Is anyone else noticing a higher then normal number of items being damaged in shipment?

The last three months we have experienced a higher then normal number of damaged shipments ... and this includes not only our sales but some other local eBay Sellers we know.  For us, we're talking about items very very similar to what has been shipped for several years now.  One friend showed me a picture of a puncture in the side of a box from their Buyer ... we're talking maybe a large screw driver stabbed through that package ...

Anyway, was just wondering if others have seen an increase in damaged shipments lately?

Yes, two within the last month. Prior to this, I've probably had two in the last 10 years.

When I started selling again here I got a lot of damage claims and other scams all at once... but then the buyers didn't want to show pics of the actual item or file an insurance claim, they just wanted a refund and then said never mind or yelled at me but didn't do anything. Did you get pics of the actual broken items? Someone could just stab a box with a tool to get a free item.

(there is also a scam where if a person break an item or it stops working you can go through this and send the broken one to the USPS claim)

It could just be a bad employee at the post office too.
