I must have received 3-5 messages from positive standing eBay users in the past 3 days that have told me that when trying to purchase an item from me on Buy It Now it was not letting them complete the transactions, while at the same time I have been getting some orders as well?
Furthermore they are being instructed to contact both eBay and PayPal and are being told by BOTH that they have no idea what the glitch is. In one case 2 eBay reps suggested that I invoice them directly, which I did, and the next day I received a WARNING from eBay not to ever do that again-when I only did it because they instructed me to!
Any help is appreciated!

Oh yes I re-read that and completely understand that-sorry for not being clearer.
One of the last potential customers to contact me advised me that eBay customer service told them it was not on their end, that something in my listings like a limitation on who can buy etc {they could not pinpoint what this issue is} is preventing people from buying, so I have no idea what is happening here, as my listings remain the same format and specs/limitations {just no Hawaii and Alaska, and US Protectorates} and all the users were not located there, that I simply have no idea what is happening or why. One person, sure I can see the problem being on their end. But 4 in 2 days-some with ratings in the 100's, I don't think is a coincidence. I think it must be on my end, but I have no idea what, or how to fix it.

Buyers that encounter checkout errors will need to contact Customer Support to receive help resolving the matter. If they are given incorrect information then I suggest that they ask to speak with a supervisor.
How would a buyer know that they are getting incorrect info? Especially a new buyer?
And after this long period of time since the 'everything must go thru ebay' directive, how does any CS rep NOT know what info they shouldn't give?

After reading other replies, I wonder if it's a new way to coax a seller into breaking eBay rules. If the eBay CS employees can even be tripped up by it, then it is sure to work on a few eBay sellers. Maybe.

@mr_lincoln wrote:@flipwedge57 Wow, a glitch where customers can not make a purchase on a sales venue ... I just find that unbelievable ...
AND in an above post Brian from Ebay NEVER addressed the issue with not being able to pay. Only that the advice given the poster would not affect their account.

Just opt into promoted listings at the highest possible percentage and the problem will be solved.

Pardon an obvious question here, and this is going to sound like I'm asking if your car won't start because there's no gas in the tank, but have you looked at your Buyer Requirements Activity Log (here) recently to see if there are any clues there to indicate that the buyers were blocked? The user IDs are disguised, but you can still see which products were involved, as well as the feedback counts of the disguised IDs.
Aside from that, exactly what error message(s) are the buyers seeing? Can they send you a screenshot?

Thank you for your suggestion! We just tried that and alas it showed nothing.
Very good idea on the error message-we have asked our latest message sender of this nature to send us anything they can. We are hopeful and confident we can get this fixed with some guidance. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

5 sales that you know of. How many buyers are just giving up and not contacting you at all and buying from someone/somewhere else?
08-07-2019 08:08 PM
Absolutely-we agree and assume many-this is very bad.

Hi, same problem here but as a buyer: I bought a video card+memory and when I'm going to pay with Paypal. Ebay says that a problem happened and I can't pay with Paypal and I must pay with credit card...but then a message pop-ups and tell that I can't pay with PAYPAL neither CREDIT CARD or DEBIT CARD and I must select another way of payment, and THERE ISN'T any other way of payment showed!!! THIS IS CRAZY!!!!! EBAY PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

People are backing out of eBay purchases when they find out they're being hit with sales tax.
08-07-2019 09:11 PM
Wow no wonder sales are so bad. I bet buyers usually just give up and buy the item elsewhere!
Please FIX THIS ISSUE!!!

Yes, I agree.
Many eBay members (Sellers & Buyers) are reporting the same thing (here and on other threads). It appears there's a technical issue between eBay and PayPal that needs to be addressed ASAP, so sellers don't lose more sales.
Still waiting to see a response that addresses the OP's and other members concerns?

maybe somewhere in your default settings and who can buy, i.e., number of unpaid items etc. just a thought, but i'd be more inclined to think it is another of ebay's infamous "glitches"
