Is Schedule a Package Pick Up Broken on the USPS Web Site ?

Today, after the second incident in 4 days of this happening to me, I sent the following message to the "technical problems" section of the post office via the PO website:

"or the last 4 days, I have not received an e-mail confirmation of my Schedule a Pick-Up Request.

As a result of that, my local post office has not gotten the confirmation either, so they did not know about the package pick-up request.

This is the first time that this has ever happened since I have been scheduling my pick-up's on-line for the last several years.

Up until 4 days ago, the post office has sent me a Package Pick-Up Confirmation within a half hour of me submitting the request on-line.

Additionally, after my mail man picked up the package, I would get an additional e-mail from the post office indicating that the Package Pick Up Request was completed and thst my mail man had picked up the packages.

I am no longer getting those e-mails from the post office either ...... I suspect because I never got the Package Pick Up Request Confirmation in the first place.

This is a serious problem because my local post office is not being notified of the package pick-up requests.

Are you aware of this new problem, and is someone working on fixing it, and is there an estimated date as to when Package Pick-Up Request confirmation e-mails will start to be sent again ?

Thank you for your help !"

( end of my message )

The Post Office reply was:

"Once a Package Pickup is scheduled it is then administered from your local Post Office™, please contact them and they will be able to further assist you."

( end of post office reply )

My reply to the post office reply was:

"Thank you for your fast reply.

I do not think that you understand what the problem is, so I will try to clarify it.

It is the post office that is not sending me an e-mail confirmation that my Schedule A Pick Up form was successfully scheduled, even though when I clicked on Submit the Scheduled Pickup, the web page told me that the pick up was successfully scheduled.

And apparently, the Email Confirmation to me is what triggers notifying my local post office of the pick up.

So because I have not been receiving the Package Pick Up Request Confirmation e-mail from the post office, my local post office is not receiving notification of the pick up either.

Has the post office stopped the practice of sending the Package Pick Up Request Confirmation e-mail to the requestor ?

As I indicated below, for the last 5 years or so, I would get that  Package Pick Up Request Confirmation e-mail from the post office within about 45 minutes after I scheduled the pick up on-line.

Thank you for your help.

Question for this message board:

Is anyone else having this problem too ?

( and Yes, I am submitting my Schedule a Package Pick Up Requests way before the 2 AM CST deadline ).

( and Yes, when I am done filling out the Schedule a Package Pick Up Form, and click on the Schedule a Package Pick Up button, a new page pops up indicating that the Package Pick Up Request Has Been Scheduled ..... and the Confirmation Number WEC-XXXXXXX also appears on that same page.

is Scheduled

Try scheduling pickup from myusps.com. I used it yesterday, and the confirmation number is printed on the page.

Re: Is Schedule a Package Pick Up Broken on the USPS Web Site ?

This sort of happened to me last week. I scheduled a pickup right before I went to bed. I got up at 4am EST for work and discovered I never got the email confirmation from USPS. So, at 4am, my mind was playing tricks on me and I began to wonder if I made a mistake when doing the scheduling. I had three packages that needed to go out. Two would fit in the blue roadside boxes so I took them with me and dropped them in. The third was too large so I left a post-it note for my mailman on my mailbox with the location of the package and to please take it. The postman did take the package. The interesting thing is that I got the confirmation of pickup email after he picked it up. The email was for 3 packages so even though I didn't get the initial confirmation email my PO did in fact get the request.

Re: Is Schedule a Package Pick Up Broken on the USPS Web Site ?

For the past week I have NOT been getting the email confirmation but I do print out the confirmation at the end of scheduling.  If I have to change it I have to sign back into USPS and click change scheduled pickup.  Glad it is not just me.

My mm has had the sheet they have to scan with a sceduled pu but will ask next time I see her.

Re: Is Schedule a Package Pick Up Broken on the USPS Web Site ?

Update:

Today I had to schedule a pick up for tomorrow.

So I did my usual routine .... I went to the PO website and scheduled the pickup.

As usual, I got the page pictured below after I submitted the on-line form.

I waited about an hour, and I still did not get the e-mail from the post office ( that I typically would get within 45 minutes after the pickup was scheduled ) .... which is always titled "USPS - Your Package Pickup Request Confirmation "

So I knew that tomorrow was, once again, going to be a case where my local post office did not get notified of the pickup.

So I went back to the post office website, and this time, I logged into my account at the post office.

Then I went to the Schedule a Package Pickup page, and I scheduled another pickup.

The confirmation page came up again after I submitted the form ....... The confirmation number was a new one, not the old one from the previous request that is pictured below ...... and this time, within about 20 minutes, I got the typical e-mail from the post offfice that they title "USPS - Your Package Pickup Request Confirmation" .... and it had the new confirmation number on it.

So while I managed by pure dumb luck to find a "fix" for this problem, I still consider it as an open issue that needs to be fixed by the post office.

As I mentioned in my original message, up until the last 4 days, I have ALWAYS received e-mail confirmation of the Pickup Request from the post office within about 45 minutes .... and each time, I had scheduled the pickup on the PO website WITHOUT logging into my account with the post office.

Re: Is Schedule a Package Pick Up Broken on the USPS Web Site ?

Yes, this week the "schedule a pick up" situation has been super wonky...as you mention, no confirmation emails acknowledging the requests or the ones saying the pick up was successful, but luckily my mail person is still picking up my packages regardless.

I'm hoping things are back to normal because when I scheduled a pick up last night, I got the usual immediate confirmation email.
