**Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

**Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay. DO NOT SEND INVOICE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE YOUR BUYER MORE DAYS TO PAY....SO FROM THE FOUR TO WHEN YOU SEND LAST INVOICE.

So if something happens and buyer drops off the planet eBay, you can not re-list until you open 'buyer did not pay / cancel sale'.

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Follow up from Faith55 -

Does anyone know when this came into effect?

1) Called into eBay "UNPAID" DEPARTMENT - asked to speak to leadership team....Spoke with 'Ann / Manila Leadership Team' - she wanted to be "honest with me" .... ( I always appreciate that from the Manila Team )

She stated she did not know when process started. ( Invoicing resets sales date )

She / is sending report to "management" to find out.  When asked what management team? She said it was "back office management team" ???? What the heck is a "back office management team"? I would not like to put that on my resume.

So....I know no more than when I started this adventure this morning. Except...DO NOT SEND INVOICES, IT RE-SETS YOUR SALES DATE. AND NONPAYING BUYERS GET ADDITIONAL FOUR DAYS. It is now day 8 for me because I sent that invoice as prompted by eBay on the listing's sold page

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Same thing has been happening to me too! Sales date keeps changing every time I send an invoice to remind buyer to pay. I can not cancel the order because it does not give the option to choose "Buyer has not paid". It looks like they just ordered the item today.

I was told by the help desk chat to stop sending invoices.

This is not an appropriate fix for this problem.

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Hi, I also could not find the original date, and the eBay Manila Call center kept telling me it was the date of the invoice. The true sales date , when I accepted the buyers best offer, was five days earlier.........

You can always see the 'original date' of sale on a "Best Offer" by going to your messages and pull up the message from buyer with their Best Offer, click on "RESPOND" and you see your response, and date / time. Sold!

On the "new date each time you invoice", idiotic move by eBay, maybe to inspire us to not send invoices, or send just one on the date of sale. I hope they correct it.

@faith55   correct, with every invoice sent, the payment due date resets to that invoice date

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

BUT, it only gives the buyer another 4 days to pay IF you have your settings to manually cancel for non payment.

If you're set up to automatically cancel for non payment the new invoice does not stop that happening on the original pay by date.

One 'fix' might be to just send the buyer a message rather than yet another invoice

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Hi,
What you do not mention.....if you decided to select Auto Cancel buyer has:
11, 19, 27, 30 days to pay.

There is not a 4 day option to select for AC

So by selecting AC the buyer has a minimum of 11 after sale date, calendar days.

So opt to send invoice that same day & buyer has 4 Days to pay.
We always would respect timely communication from a buyer requesting extend  date to pay if they are having issues.

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Respectfully, have to ask:  Why send an invoice? Buyer sees what he has to pay at the end of the auction/listing.  eBay reminds him at least once.

@faith55

Sorry for you that you're just learning this, but it's been eBay's way for a long time. As mentioned upthread, there's no reason to send out invoices... eBay sends reminder notices to your buyers users. Upward and onward and all...

I have a 4-day option for cancelling Unpaid Items... do you not? 🤔

You can also select from the durations you listed, though...

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Hi, No I do not. I even thought it might have something to do with combing purchases, so I changed that preference. I know it used to be 4 days ( with no options )...I remember that on auto cancel, but I wanted to give my buyers more time to pay.

My days, are 7, 11, 19, 27, 30 days to pay

sorry my screen shot is tiny.....

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

Stop sending invoices.  The buyer knows he owes you $.  Don't give them extra time.

Everytime they look at their ebay page, there is a note that they have to pay.  After 96 hours and 1 minute, cancel the sale with buyer did not pay .  Relist and make sure that you block the buyer.

Frankly, this is probably one of the stupidest things that ebay has done.   If a buyer gets extra days to pay, why can't a seller get a few extra days to pay their bills.  From reading this many posts, I can see that some sellers need a few extra days to pay .

Re: **Invoicing your customer 're-sets SALES DATE' - EXTENDS the four days to pay.

I don't know why 4 days not an option for you, I have auto cancel on 4 days.

Don't send invoices unless you willing to wait another 4 days.

Block them if they don't pay and move on with your life.

I have no clue on the 4 days. I am moving on..........

Bye to all. Thank you for the assist. I hope everyone now knows about invoicing.

And my buyer did stiff me, and I did block her. And I am off and about!
