I need help!!  This past March I was in Europe for 3 months. I was told to zero out my inventory which i did for my 5000 plus books. I did not know that Ebay does not delete sold items and they keep them active for some reason, so when I got back I relisted everthing. Been getting orders or sold items that have already sold. How do I locate and delete the previously sold books??

Never heard that before.   Did you end the listings?    I ask because I have ended listings and they were never heard from again.

That is a bummer. I always clear out my sold items (when i had a store and sold a lot) so this would not happen.

Can you pull up the listings under your ended and sort by date? Might be able to filter out a list to work from.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that eBay kept your "sold" listings live all this time?? That doesn't sound right. EBay does not keep live sold listings. Could it be that you inadvertently relisted your "Paid and Shipped" folder instead of your "Ended" folder? Try populating your listing to title in order to see if any duplicates appear.

If they use the Out Of Stock option, sold out listings stay active for I think 3 months, until they are removed, unless you remove them.

I never knew to use Ended listings and delete them.

Did you use the OUT OF STOCK feature?   If so, did you change your stock to ZERO?

Better have a Chat with eBay as soon as possible to avoid getting OOS Defects for those accidentally relisted and double sold books.

Out Of Stock listings remain for 5 renewal cycles, on the 6th eBay ends them. The OP had the right idea, use Out Of Stock vs Time Away by zeroing the quantity. What they did wrong was relisting the items when they returned when they should have done a bulk edit to return those OOS listings back to the original quantities.

I have used OOS as an alternative to Time Away several times, specifically when I will be away for more than 30 days and have no internet access to reset Time away at 30 days.

Out Of Stock listings do not appear in search results, they do not appear publicly when a user looks at "see seller listings". They can be found if a buyer has it on a watch list BUT there will not be any Buy or Add to Cart button to click, there would be an "add to watch list" link just like a Time Away listing.

The only issue with Out Of Stock is that is a global setting for Fixed Price listings, you can't pick and choose the listings it will apply to.

I have a lot of multi quantity listings which I can restock inventory when sold out, this is why I have the OOS turned on. Most times I can restock in a few days, some take longer to locate additional stock. OOS listings use up a "free listing" but only for the first renewal, after that they are not counted by eBay as "active listings" as far as listing fees or counting against your allotment of free or store listings.

It's a great feature when used correctly.
