Go and read for yourslf. I know that it is early and we might be surprised if it turns out okay, but from EVERYHING one reads, it wil be a gigantic gain for the Bonanza marketplace and the downfall of Ebay. People want and can afford used items. Why buy brand new items at ridiculous store prices, especially for children who immediately outgrow them? We are not Amazon and Ebay can never offer the prime shipping deal Amazon does. I could smell the beginning problem when I heard the Ebay chairman tell Trump that shipping takes 2 days to arrive. Dreamland is what I call it. The important thing to me is if the worst is stated will the store owners be allowed to end their yearly subscriptions without a BIG penalty or will they use it unfairly as a big revenue gain. Good luck to all - the buyers and sellers.

Do not know if it will cease to exist--AMZ does not really sell stuff like that, it's all got to be new vintage reproduction that are cheap to buy and are cheap mass produced items which they prefer to sell in the 100,000's rather thaan one exquisite piece of vintage work. Suppose that profits are better for the junk enmasse. The whole product based stuff will be a bunch of junk enmasse.

Thise four in the first page of the search--then you can go wherever you want using some other filter to get the rest in that search.
So buyers are now going to have to go through an extra hoop to search.

Lots of junk jewelry that is of course new enmasse.

I finally got all my category searches just the way I want them safely tucked in ebay email.

The only clue I have about this was from the weekly chat this week where one of the Ebay folks stated that the site has already been doing grouped listings where buyers will have a less aggravating search es where they get a bunch of grouped listings showing them the best choices and then they said they go to a filter or something to see the rest. They were asked how to get into this 4 buy box that everybody is seeing in Ina's ecommercebytes blog and they said at the end of the chat they did not know what the 4 buy box was. End.

Unless it's another 2 hoops to just thru to get to that hoop.
As long as they don't mess up 'Ending soonest, auctions only', it shouldn't affect my buying here(although I see less and less good items for what I buy and more repops).
We'll see how it may affect my selling here. I like the other E site better now, except for not having auctions there. Plus it's nice to see fees of only 3.5%. I would really rock there if I listed more there, though. Time is a big factor.

I'm just going to keep doing what I've always done and not worry about it. Ebay's gonna do what Ebay's gonna do. If it kills them, so be it, not a darn thing I can do about it. I've been wearing my parachute since 2003, always knowing that one day I may need to jump.

I think that's what Wenig means about "the spectrum of value" in that blog post--show the buyers the best choices for the money with the best sellers first. Could be wrong--the post is very cryptic, with a lot of business speak.

Oh, good, so you're saying the ranch now has an MBG...and accepts paypal...
but still has no CS...it all makes sense now.

Don't jump yet until you know for sure what this is all about. When you are ready then to jump we can jump together. Sometimes it is hard to know when to jump and when to stay put. We all will know I think fairly soon.

I have a nice dime store and hong kong toy collection going.
And the only other place is the other E, but not nearly as much.
I will just have to buy what I see while I can.
Then try their new set up. If it gets too impossible to find what I want I will just have to be happy with what I have or the occasional item on the other E.

But that does not work in vintage where there are so many aspects that affect price.
Unless they are getting rid of vintage altogether.

Ebay's been "dying" since I got here, I haven't jumped yet and am not going to yet (they'll have to push me out) . I am one of the least impulsive people I know.
Minimum deployment for a parachute is around 2000-2500 feet. If I'm still here at 3000 feet I'll probably jump I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid lol

At the end of the day, that's exactly the deal for me too. I've considered selling here a week to week proposition ever since "Bad Buyer Experience" purges began back around '09 or '10. eBay is going to do what eBay does, and when they make it not work for me, I won't be here.
Cool - another prediction of eBay's demise. Maybe this one will turn out to be correct, unlike the 10,000 other predictions that have been made here over the years...
I don't know about that... I suppose it depends on what you sell, how you sell it, and exactly what eBay does. As a vintage jewelry seller here, the prediction of eBay's demise turned out to be quite correct by 2010, and I packed up my wares and went elsewhere. If you're eBay's partner in refurbishing and reselling phones, it does not appear any demise is likely soon.
In my remaining eBay category niche, the biggest day of "demise" was in 2007 when PayPal got jammed down everyone's throat. It was the single biggest exodus of quality sellers of quality merchandise in that category ever, and it assured I would never move into that space here myself. It was however a banner day for coin show promoters, B&M coin shops, and the major coin auction houses, many of whom were on the brink of extinction up until that point...

This link was posted in the weekly chat yesterday. Apprently, this was rolled out in Oct. of '16. I've never seen the part of eBay that has all these stories...
Anyway, the links in the "news" give a little visual insight into how things will might look. I haven't tried a search that way and have no intention of doing so. Google advanced search-by-site works well to uncover listings that are hidden by eBay.
