Has anyone else noticed that the number of "viewers" for listings seems extremely inflated? Almost impossible, stupid numbers? I assumed it was just another technical glitch, but it's been going on for at least a month.

Mine are 180 degrees the opposite. My views are DEFLATED to the point of near absolute ZERO!!!
Of course, these numbers, either grossly high or pathetically low, are not immune from the glitch-fest here. I know, I KNOW, every single one of my items, in reality, has hundreds, thousands, of views.

Sometimes one of my listings will go from like no views to insane amount of views within refreshing my screen. I am not sure why this happens although it has happened to me on more than one occassion and always went stagnant around 486-487 views everytime. Never any watchers or buyers. Not sure if it is a glitch in view counts, secret advertising, google or why it happens. Regardless its annoying.

What sorts of things do you sell? It's entirely possible that someone might be pinning them on Pinterest or linking them on another social media site.

The number of watchers claimed on listings in the search are also exaggerated.
If I have one watcher on my item, in search it may say there are eight people are watching it.

Yes, I've noticed this. For example, a red hoodie had over 300 views in 10 days. I don't think I've ever had an item go over 100 views. It ended and I relisted it. In the 2 1/2 days since I've relisted it, it has gotten 1 view.

Yes I have had that happen on several basic items not worth bringing in a lot of views. I went to relist some basic children's sandals the other day and they had almost 400 views after a 7 day auction (yeah right!)

Who knows?
We used to notice that on every auction we listed, we would get several ( 1-4) views immediately. We assumed it was bots.
Now, we can have an item up for days with no views.
I currently have an item with over 100 views at a buy it now.
We will say when an item gets that many views, it will usually sell. But it hasn't, this is the second 30 day listing.
But sometimes, things listed for 30 days with only 3/4 views will sell after months of relistings.
Have you ever wondered if we had more information on what is going on, how much easier it would be to sell?
And wondered why ebay doesn't share that info?
Our guess is there is constant testing of some sort, and mining of information.
And that information is used and sold. It's probably much more valuable than the small amount eBay makes on fees from small sellers.

Try to raise the price and see if anything happens.
I have a basic Oakley t-shirt that has been listed for 3 days now and the views are around 1200. At about 600 views i raised the price $20 and the views stalled to nothing for 12 hours then i dropped the price back down and the views blew up again.
At first i thought it might be a glitch and it still could be, but i dont know. Its crazy.

Views? I thought that was how many times 'I' viewed the item, personally. Because they sit at just about ZERO until i do so lmao. Super sales weekend for us, checkit out! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Taking a few days away from this place. Maybe we'll get a listing promo or smething to bring us back
JOKE OF THE DAY

Nowadays I barely get 10 views per item in a week - its terrible. and just now my items have jumped to thousands and tens/hundreds of thousands of views. Absolutely insane numbers. One item since yesterday went from about 6 views to 826,996 views today. Clearly something is wrong. I'd be happy to get 100 real relevent views which should be possibly considering this is a global site accessed by millions of people. Is that really too much to ask? 🙂 Instead of favoring a few they make more money off of?

I've been doing auctions for a few weeks and having a number of things run for all seven days and end with no views. Almost none gets watchers. The bidding activity suggests there's not a lot of interest in these items (in some cases I'm surprised, in other cases since it sat in the store for months, the lack of interest is par for the course).
Cheers, C.

Views have really been problematic lately; either there aren't any, or there are a gazillion.
