A family member is listing an item, and I still can't find it when I search for it, even though the listing shows as "active" on his side. As I've been reading, it can take up to 24 hours for the item to "index" so that it can show up on ebay searches. The charge to him for this listing is $79 for a 7 day listing. However, if it takes 24 hours to "index" and show up, then ebay is really only advertising it for 6 days. They are ripping him off for $11.28 for the one day he is paying them to advertise his item, but it is not actually being advertised. It looks like this is pretty common. Should the 7 days start when the item is actually available for viewing to ebay customers? How has this not been the subject of a class action lawsuit?

That's the real question here. Sorry, I don't know that answer and couldn't find it. I hope a more knowledgeable member will come along and inform both of us, as well as the untold millions who read these boards. Read the user agreement: they do not guarantee a listing will even show.
