Increase in fees

How does increasing EBAY fees help anyone?  It causes sellers to have to increase their prices to compensate or make a profit, and the buyers NOT to buy because it's so expensive.  Sounds like EBAY is determined to put themselves out of business, UNLESS their profits are coming from ADS, which means they don't care about sellers anymore?

Re: Increase in fees

As a publicly traded company for many years, eBay's primary concern is not buyers or sellers; it's their stockholders. They have never "cared" about sellers.

That's how capitalism works, they are here to make the most profit just as most sellers are.  Apparently there was some number-crunching which indicated that the fee increase would increase their profits despite losing some listings and some sellers. We don't have access to that background data, so we have to just sit here, wondering.

Most sellers won't stop selling here for a .003 increase in fees,  especially when other major marketplaces charge more.  Ebay realizes that and are increasing their fees accordingly.

Yes, the fees keep going up, but the return of FVF credit for partial refunds is excellent.

Re: Increase in fees

I doubt buyers will stop shopping on Ebay if you raise the price of a $50 item 15 cents to not lose any profit on it.  Just about every monthly bill I pay has went up over the last year, so Ebay is no exception. Ebay is actually not really here to help you, it is just to give you a place to sell your wares.

Re: Increase in fees

Let's put this in perspective.

Say you sell an item for $20.00 all in (item price, shipping, and tax).

For sellers without a store, the current FVF on that $20.00 is $2.51 (+ the .30).

With the change, the new FVF will be $2.58 (+ the .30).

A difference of 7 cents.  Increase your price by 25 or 50 cents and you're golden.  I don't think a few cents is going to turn buyers away, assuming they want your item bad enough.

Am I wrong here?  Because if I am, someone please tell me so.  Pretty sure I've done the math correctly, but if not I will stand corrected.

Re: Increase in fees

It is a very small amount....

The fvf credit on partials is HUGE!  A win for the Seller, which is a WIN for the Buyer!  Really happy about that change.

So, you work for EBAY?

Re: Increase in fees

Considering the also enormous increase in the shipping fees from the USPS, buyers are going to just not pay these prices that sellers have to ask to make a profit.
