Inappropriate Reviews

I am finding that inappropriate reviews can be left by buyers who have not completed a transaction, did not read the ad, or have left a bad review after the item was delivered months ago and did not try to make contact. With this no holding the buyer accountable, my reviews make me look terrible, even though I have done nothing wrong. I don't see the point in this if I am to continue selling. Is it just me?

Re: Inappropriate Reviews

The photo doesn't show well on my phone or computer. I had to get a magnifying glass out to actually see but it said petite.

Are you saying the buyer should have to get magnifying glasses out carefully inspect every photo, just in case a seller doesn't bother to mention something in the listing?

The seller got what she deserved because she didn't describe it accurately IN TEXT. Sorry you can argue all you want but the fact is, just from reading the sellers replies to her negative feedback it's obvious she's brought this on herself.

No, I`m saying actual measurements were listed and the buyer ignored them. I`m also saying that I can see and read the tag from 10 feet away on my computer screen and as a buyer, if I couldn`t, I`d have asked for a better picture or for more info..

Honestly, instead of being offended, you should use feedback to improve your service.  You noted that the vest included measurements - I didn't see any measurements, only that it was a small.    Clothing is a such a tough item, I would go overboard on the description.  And if shipping is more than you anticipated, chalk it up to a lesson learned and absorb the additional cost.  There isn't much you can do about the negative after the fact, try to get ahead of it.

Clu, I agree with everything you stated but I think you are looking at the listing ebay wants you to see instead of the original listing in question. The original listing in question was a large petite with measurements clearly in the text of the description.

WTH is a large petite question mark everything in the listing says that it was a size large.

Those labels are so small that are cell phone you can't see them.

The seller should have clearly stated that it was petite in both the title and the listing.

Nothing indicated it was a petite.

The seller earned that neg by not saying it's a large petite.

That statement is false. You are welcome to your opinion but I see it in the picture as clear as day and IF I was buying an item such as this I wouldn`t have purchased it without A) seeing the tag or B) knowing the measurements. The seller provided BOTH .

You mean this blurry photo?Screenshot_20190121-095506.png

As for the measurements, most people don't know how "long" of a vest they need.

The seller needed to state petite. In the item specifications they call it a regular.

The only place that may say petite is in that blurry photo.

You are most certainly entitled to your opinion however your opinion is wrong.

Yes, this photo.....

So, picture aside, it`s OK that the buyer doesn`t even have to know their own measurements? OK, Got it.

Oh my.   PETITE L   ??       Gimme a break.     However, I guess I would have included those words and the above photo which CLEARLY shows the words PETITE L.    AND ALSO the words Large, just to cover all bases.     Thanks for this clear photo, I thought I was going blind and couldn't see it.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I see from the photos posted here, I must have missed that Ebay was directing me to something "similar" than what I actually clicked on.  Even more interesting that they showed me a small, when the original listing was a large.  😕

Re: Inappropriate Reviews

Petite sizing doesn’t mean it’s overall small in - it’s for short people. The sleeves, bodices, etc. are cut correspondingly shorter.

One can still be hefty , if short - thus L or even XL Petite.

Re: Inappropriate Reviews

According to Ebay’s Removal policy above, the feedback is not eligible for removal because the static info (title, item specifics “Regular” contradicted the description (pics are part of description).

Customers should not have to wade through contradictions analyzing listings.

I agree that the seller could have done a much better job listing this to cover all bases. Whenever these issues come up here it is usually because the seller didn`t include measurements in their listing. This seller did include measurements and it didn`t help. They included a photo of the tag and it didn`t help. 1 aspect of this listing wasn`t clear and precise so the other 2 correct aspects of the listing are apparently null and void.

If there are contradictions in a listing I either A) ask the seller to clarify or B) don`t buy the item. This is why I have only had a few poor buying experiences here in 16+ years. You are more than welcome to check my buying or selling history anytime. I don`t hide it.

I know.

No one else needs to tell me, if you look back on my posts, my wife told me first before you or any other poster told me.

I don't think we have that size in the UK.

Petite means small, so how can someone be a large small?

My wife has just informed me that we do have that size in the UK. grimacing

The petite bit is about the wearers height.

However, the measurements were provided on the ops listing.

Actually, it's not necessarily about the wearer's height.  A person can be within the standard height measurements for her "size" yet wear petite in skirt or pants because her legs are short, but where regular or even Tall in tops, because her torso and/or arms are long.  Or vice versa, if you like your vice versa.

Just a fun fact.

Would I be right in thinking that until someone posted the enlarged pic of the label, you didn't notice the word PETITE ?  Your reply refers the buyer to your 'measurements' but length 24" doesn't really help since you do not indicate how you measured that - from the shoulder, from the base of the neck, from....?  Also you listed this garment in REGULAR when the item specific chosen should have been PETITE.  Contradictory Item Specifics vs Title and Description will always leave a seller with no defense.

Also, for future, I would recommend that you avoid language like this in a listing:

No integrity issues, but I would recommend dry cleaning, vest shows no spots, stains, sweat indications, etc., or other surface inferior condition, but this is a pre worn garment, and dry cleaning is suggested.

....as it appears to say that the garment has not been cleaned since being worn, before listing and isn't going to be cleaned by the seller before shipping yet acknowledges that it's been worn.  Just because the seller doesn't notice spots, stains and sweat marks on a used garment doesn't mean the seller isn't required to clean it first.

Here's the relevant policy:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/used-clothing-policy?id=4281

Text to note: (my highlight)

Used clothing (except underwear and socks) can be listed on eBay with restrictions. The item must be properly cleaned and the listing must clearly state that the item is used.

Exactly.  I wear petite sizes and they have completely different proportions than regular sizes because they're cut for people who are smaller.  The sleeve lengths are shorter, the distance between the bust and the waist is shorter, etc.  Even if the measurements match up, a petite piece of clothing likely won't fit a person who wears regular sizes because the proportions will be all wrong for them.

The size listed in the item specifics said "Women's," not "Petite."  This was the seller's fault, not the buyer's.  Why would they squint at the tag when the title, the item specifics and the description all said that it was a regular size L?
