In description I firmly state 'No overseas sales' cancelling a sale after overseas buyer paid.

Hi, new seller here.

How do I cancel a sale after buyer paid.

I have 'No overseas sales' 'ships to 48 us states only'.

Buyer won auction, paid immediately, and is from China.

How do I cancel sale, and will ebay refund them.

TIA , looked for hours to try and figure it out, and couldnt find it.

Thanks!  Wow that’s  an oldie link as it mentions blocking for non confirmed addresses which has to be from years ago.  It also mention blocking echecks snd I don’t remember ever being able to do that.

It's not twisting it. That is NOT the buyers address it is the address of the freight forwarder who is NOT the buyer. I have no problem getting caught using that reason or getting suspended. If I refuse to sell/ship to certain countries and eBay's policy is going to force me to sell regardless then I will discontinue listing on this platform.

You seem to be forgetting that the seller never sees the buyers address and the only address associated with the transaction is the freight forwarders.  That is the address used on payment and that is the address the seller is required to send to for seller protection.

A purchase never needs to be sent to the ‘buyer’, it needs to be sent to the name and address the buyer chose when paying.  That’s true whether it is a domestic or international transaction.

No I quite under stand that and 99% of the time that is what I do. But, you seem to be forgetting that if I choose NOT to sell internationally it is my business, my merchandise and my risk. I am NOT "required" to do anything to  jeopardize that. You can choose how you wish to run your business but I have been scammed a couple of times with international transactions and am a bit more risk adverse these days. There is virtually no seller protection with eBay.

Not if I don't sell internationally or the buyer is registered in a country I do NOT sell to.

This discussion is going to continue to have different opinions until eBay fixes the policy conflicts and provides less ambiguous language.

Re: In description I firmly state 'No overseas sales' cancelling a sale after overseas buyer paid.

Just cancel the order, and give one of the reasons why you're cancelling.  I've cancelled so many before.  Also if you don't have a good reason in the scroll down menu of the help and support section, just use the one that you've made an error in the listing.  It's perfectly acceptable and so easy.  Be aware that they will refund straight away the buyer, and probably the buyer will be able to give you feedback (or not, i'm not sure, probably when you cancel an order the order goes out of sight, and probably they won't be able to give you feedback anymore.  However, after I cancel any orders, I do block the buyers, because they tend to come back and buy again just to irritate you and will be able to give you feedback even if they don't pay for it.  Block nonsense without any hesitation, they won't bother you again.  A lot of people know ebays rules very well to know that if you don't want to send outside the US, you don't have to do it, but they think people are stupid.  I've been around since 2005 and I'm from Portugal, have had all kinds of issues, and got away with all of them up to now.  but i've had to pay refunds sometimes.  That's just life.  Good Luck!

The only opinion that counts is the one presented by every eBay employee who has ever weighed in on the subject. They've been unambiguous about the policy. It's clear from their posts that sellers who cancel transactions with a "ship to" address using "problem with buyer's address" are willfully abusing the cancellation feature.
