So when I select "Immediate Payment Required" you would expect the buyer's money is automatically debited to pay for the item. So in my case, I'm waiting for the buyer to pay up. What's with this ebay? Been with you for 23 years.
Not only that but I had selected Buy it Now with auction. Halfway through the 5 days Buy it Now disappeared and became an auction only. The highest bid at the time did not reach the Buy it Now price. I contacted ebay and the rep said it was a glitch and would be fixed in 24 hour. It did not get fixed and my item sold well under the Buy it Now price.
So maybe I'll just use Facebook Marketplace from now on since you guys are falling apart. Contact me ebay or lose me.

You are confused. Immediate payment is not for auctions. AND, an auction with a buy it now option loses that BIN option after the first bid is placed. That’s the way it works. It isn’t a glitch - CS just wanted to get you off of the phone.

As soon as a buyer or bidder bids, Buy it Now disappears, for obvious reasons. Also, buyers have 4 days to pay after end of the auction. You can't have immediate payment for auctions.

In most categories the "buy it now" goes away when a bid is made.
In some categories "buy it now" remains longer.
"Buy it now" on an auction is not a "reserve price". Auctions without a "reserve" are sold to the highest bidder
Auctions, unless there has been some recent change are not IPR. IPR is for BIN fixed price listings

In case the others haven't made it clear: Your auction had no glitches at all. The BIN option disappeared because it was supposed to, and the auction was won by the high bidder because that's how auctions work. The "Buy it now" price has never acted as a reserve or as a minimum selling price.
eBay has started implementing some improvements regarding getting payments from buyers, but for now an auction winner has 4 days to pay for their item; IPR doesn't apply.

Now that you know what happened, your next move is to cancel the sale at (at least) 96 hours after the Auction ended, citing 'Buyer didn't pay', if the buyer still hasn't. Don't send invoices as those reset the buyer's 96 hour payment window. Good luck.

"...So when I select "Immediate Payment Required" you would expect the buyer's money is automatically debited to pay for the item..."
Immediate payment is designed for Buy It Now (non-auction) Sales...It does not apply to auctions.....
"...Halfway through the 5 days Buy it Now disappeared and became an auction only..."
Once the first bid is made on an auction, the "Buy It Now" Price/Option is gone,,,
"...It did not get fixed and my item sold well under the Buy it Now price..."
What did not get "fixed". Everything worked as it should... You had 44 Bids on an auction and sold your item. You established the lowest amount you would take for your item when you opened the auction opening bid.

First of all, ebay is NOT going to contact you. If you leave, they do not care. If you stay, they don't care either. In fact, no one here is going to care either. Whenever an auction gets a bid, the buy it now price disappears. Before thinking of leaving a site, why don't you learn how it functions first? Then if it does not suit you, you move on and learn the next site. When you do auctions, you start them at the lowest price that you are willing to let it go. This site is no mostly buy it now. Most bidders are not patient to wait for an auction to run it's course. There are just not enough bidders either now. So start the item that the lowest price that you want.
The rep lied to you to get you off the phone so that they can try to answer the next call and if they do not know the answer, they will lie to that person too. They should have told you what I told you, " buy it now disappears the second that a bid is placed." Reporting them is also useless.

@snydlee1 : Unfortunately I suspect that you are confusing the BuyItNow option with the Reserve option. If you choose (and pay for) a Reserve price on your auction, you do not have to sell if the bidding does not reach the Reserve price. A BuyItNow price, in comparison, allows a buyer to bypass the bidding process and buy your item outright, if bidding has not already started.
In some categories, the BuyItNow will remain available until bidding reaches at least 50% of the BIN price (I think), but in most categories it disappears as soon as a bid is received. (The Make Offer option on an auction will also disappear as soon as a bid is received.)
While it appears that you thought the BIN price was a Reserve price (it isn't), we would not recommend using the Reserve anyway, as it's a nonrefundable listing option and costs a lot up front. Just set your auction's opening price to be whatever you would genuinely accept for it if you only ever got one bid, and then every bid after that is gravy. Good luck.

In fairness to newish sellers, it's pretty easy to get confused on the terms. Right now there is a separate thread and the poster is completely twisted in knots because of not understanding the terminology used in listings.
It probably doesn't help that ebay offers two listing formats: "auction" format with a "buy it now" option or "buy it now" format. Two completely separate ways to list the item which work completely differently. I wish they would call one of the buy it nows something else--maybe get it quick. 😊
This OP currently has a buy it now listing and the phone was an auction with a buy it now option.

Did you accept a "Best offer?" If so, the buy it now doesn't really apply. Grant it I have read that eBay has started to ask for payment info upfront, so if a customer does accept an offer, they'll pay immediately. I made an offer and the seller accepted, I paid immediately.
Happy Selling what ever you decide.

The OP's listing, for a cell phone, was in one of those 4 categories with a lasting BIN, and thus the BIN would have remained available until bidding reached half of whatever the BIN price was.
The OP said, "my item sold well under the Buy it Now price", so we know that the BIN price was above $880; half of that would have been more than $440. The opening bid on the auction was $225, and there was plenty of bidding before the high bid showing reached half of the BIN.
