If no case is opened for a non-paying buyer, how many days before a seller can relist the item?

I know a buyer has 4 days to pay once a case is opened agaisnt them for not paying, but if no such case is opened, how many days does a seller have to wait before they can relist the item without the buyer being able to do anything about it?

When a seller files an unpaid item claim, eBay sends the buyer a message that very sternly orders them to pay within 4 days. OP doesn't want the buyer to pay for the item because they listed it at 10% of the item's actual value.  By keeping quiet, they hope that the buyer will forget about the transaction.

You make a mistake.  You own up to it.

If buyer was going to pay, he would have already.

Waiting 32 days hoping he won't is just not the way I would handle it.

And does the seller have to actually file for buyer to get notice or aren't they sent out as reminders by ebay anyway.

I know I had a listing that after I bid I realized it was a stolen listing.  I am sure seller did not send any notice to put himself on record.  But I got reminders from ebay to pay.

The OP said they would honor the the $9.50 if paid for. Do you sell much on ebay? Lots of people dont pay right away. And Payment reminders are very different than Unpaid Item payment requests. The majority of (frequent) unpaid item cases end up being paid. Especially the 90% off sales.

What on earth are you talking about? I already said if the buyer ends up paying I will honor the sale, so I most certainly DO intend to own up to it. However, I certainly am not going to remind a non-paying buyer to pay me when I'm hoping they do not pay me for reasons already explained clearly above. If they pay me then he'll get a great deal. If they don't pay me then I'll be singing in the rain.

My way of "owning up to it" is handling the transaction as if it was priced correctly and the buyer did not pay.

That's really a stretch.

It is my way.  How would that be a strech.

Yup, that would be like having a yard sale with the wrong price tag on an item, and feeling that you can not take the tag off to correct it because there are people walking around the yard. Would be wrong to yank it out of someones hands, but until something is paid for it belongs to the seller.

Seller loaded the gun. Does not mean that there is a requirement to start aiming at his/her own toes, and start pulling the trigger.

Someone walking around the yard = realizing your mistake before someone hits the buy button.

Because there is common sense and then there is arguing just to argue.

and if they do not pay, it still belongs to the seller.

You have your way of thinking. That's OK.

I see no moral defect on the part of this seller.  Perhaps they should get the buyers phone # to beg them to make the payment.

No need.  Just process it like any other non paying buyer.

So you would open an unpaid item case, which would almost guarantee that you would lose 90 dollars instead of waiting a month and potentially not losing the money?

Why would you be in such a rush to lose money?

So that would equate to telling the person in the yard sale holding the underpriced item to either pay for it now, or put it down and be punished. I can't make dollars, and sense out of doing that.
