As a seller, it can be hit and miss whether buyers leave feedback for you - I find more often than not buyers don't leave any, despite having a good experience.
My idea is how about a system where if a buyer is invited to leave feedback and they don't, eBay (after a certain amount of time, let's say 60 days) automatically register a positive if there has been no return, and no reported problems with the transaction? Obviously without comment, but could just say "Automatic positive transaction"
What does everyone think?

Feedback is not a requirement for the seller or a buyer. It is completely voluntary. Ebay has other things to focus on these days, believe me. Feedback is not a high priority. Happy Selling.

It looks like you have received 141 FB as a buyer, 217 FB as a Seller but have only left FB for 103 Buyres & Sellers - seems you need to do what your are asking. FB is strictly volunatary - and sellers are no longer measured on your FB rating. and the % rating is only based on the laates 365/366 rolling years. - not indicative of there selling entire tenure. A some people have been brought up with the folowwing guidance of "If you can't say something nice don't say nothing at all - so an auto POS has much less meaning EH.

I think that buyer feedback should only include buyer feedback and not automated bot feedback.
And also I think that when the buyers who currently withhold feedback (rather than give a negative) discover that their silence will result in a fake positive, they will actually be more inclined to leave negatives.
When compiling my own list of improvements to eBay, this would not even crack the top 1000.

I think you are hung up on feedback
you get feedback but do not like to give it to your buyers
if you want more feedback you need to leave it

Believe it or not, similar suggestions have been made previously.
Here's what I think: I do not want or need bots deciding what kind of feedback my seller deserves.
Occasionally, have had a disappointing experience on eBay. Nothing earth-shattering, nothing where I want to return the item, just a slight disappointment in some aspect of the transaction; however, in that case, I don't leave FB because I don't believe positive is merited and I don't want to trash a seller's feedback, especially a new kid on the block, because of a minor issue. So, if eBay should decide to accept your suggestion, I will be out of here in a flash.

A count of transactions might be a better idea. I see far too many fb comments that are product reviews. Some users have no idea what fb actually is. A lesson or mandatory help page might be in order. Buyer school!

Well, that would be a lie, 60 days with feedback not left doesn't mean I liked the transaction. Maybe I wanted to leave negative feedback but held back for whatever reason.

That auto fill did it again or my proof reading has gone to hell in a hand basket or I created a new word for Webster Unabridged or the Urban dictionary or both - its hell being a 44 model at this "vintage" age "it ain't for sissies.."
It should have read " .....the last 365/366 rolling years. '''"

This feedback topic has been ongoing for as long as I've been on the site.
I know we like to see the numbers move, but your focus should be on dollars, not feedback numbers.
And eBay has indicated that this is a non-topic with them. There have been a million suggestions and nothing changes.

Don't worry, when Elon Musk buys eBay, this will be one of the first changes he makes to the platform. He has a long list of improvements he want to make to eBay.

I would prefer that the existing feedback system be replaced by two odometer numbers without positives, neutrals or negatives.
Number of buying transactions.
Number of selling transactions.
Add some functionality to send the buyer an automated reminder to leave feedback with the incentive of them receiving a coupon for a discount on a future purchase in exchange for leaving the feedback.

Hmm no feedback is good for the metrics per say;
reality is one bad experience, is worth a great deal more to a purchaser, buyer, customer, than a 100 positives as well.
We here the bad form customers not the positives... Ah well such is the world of mankind.
Just take a good look at the social media; you will remember the bad over the good your self...

Curious how those numbers would be the least bit helpful. What would they tell a buyer or a seller? Nothing. Even less helpful than the existing system . . .

Consider 100 recent selling transactions under the current system.
I would receive 30 feedback, on average.
One of those feedback would be a negative from a buyer who didn't contact me or file a case to give me a chance to replace or refund. They just decided to use the nuclear option and give me negative.
My feedback would be 96.7% based on 30 transactions. It should be 99% based on 100 transactions.
If a current feedback number is almost all buying, I would expect a below average job of packaging from that seller. I would have incentive to buy from a more experienced seller.
