INR Case with differing deadlines shown on Mobile vs Browser

I can't explain it, but I have one like it too - although, the dates were different on my PC.. not mobile.

When I received the message that an INR was open, it said resolve by 5/31.  Before I confirmed the tracking into the case, it said 6/1.  Now that tracking is in there, I don't see a date.

This particular INR is stressing me out.  The package is not lost... it is just sitting in South Jersey - for the second time!!   It was in South Jersey for a week w/ no movement... I opened a missing mail search and it tracked again to Philadelphia.  Philadelphia sent it back to South Jersey on 5/26 and now it is 5/28 and no movement.  So mad!   I can't do a thing... but sit and wait while the INR case deadline is looming.

Not a fan of the whole INR process.

@jjddmwi You should be ok for a little while, isn't it like 7 days w/o movement? So it last moved on 5/26 and you should be good til at least 6/2?? If it moves again you're good for another 7 days from that time? Never had the issue but that's what I believe the advice on the forum is.

Mine hasn't moved since 5/15, last tracking update 5/16, MMS on 5/23.

It's a cheap item, $22.95, I only netted $14.50 so I don't lose enough to worry about it, and if I file the insurance claim ($100 incl insurance) and win, which I'll win as long as it doesn't appear before the claim is decided, then I'll make my $22.95 + shipping label refund and walk away a winner.

What date to you see on the email saying the INR was opened @ajs_coins_and_alchemy ?

When you say "mobile says" do you mean mobile web or the app? Because there are essentially 3 versions of eBay: app, mobile web, classic web.

Can we get some insight here kyle@ebay devon@ebay elizabeth@ebay . Is this a site error?

Another example showing discrepancy between website and email from @iamalwaysright :

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Part-2/td-p/34291763

I've seen the same problem on my accounts. The last time I paid attention to dates on an INR was in February and here's what I said back then: "The INR I just escalated said resolve by Feb 13 on email and resolve by Feb 14 on dispute page."

@ajs_coins_and_alchemy  thanks!  I sure hope it delivers... it's less than 30 minutes away from the buyer.  Super annoyed that it got sent back to the distribution center that let it set for a week the first time! Grrrr

How long does it take for them to decide your insurance claim?  If the MMS shakes it loose, they won't approve your claim, will they?

Did you refund your buyer already then?

@jjddmwi

I think they say 7-10 days for insurance claim decision? I was looking today and if I recall correctly 7-10 but I had one decided MUCH faster, where I had the check in hand within like 7 days of filing.

Correct they won't approve my claim if the item turns up. So basically if I refund and file claim I gotta pray the insurance is decided before the item has a chance to turn up ... or hope the buyer PayPals me my money ... I'm not going to pay for it to be shipped back to me, not worth my time.

Have not refunded buyer yet. Was going to do it tonight if it doesn't turn up because I don't want to risk letting this buyer escalate  on me and honestly I'm not sure how I feel about the buyer trust wise ... other buyers I get a better feel for and can trust they won't escalate on me, this one I'm not motivated to take a flyer on them.

Just refunded & filed my claim ... They say claims decisions take 5-10 days and any claim payments can be expected in 7-10 business days.

My only other claim was submitted on Thursday 11/30/23 and approved on Monday 12/4/23 ... I just remember receiving the check super fast and being blown away.

I say glitch.

Most of us respond right away.

Unless you plan on waiting until the last minute to respond, why does it matter?

I am part of the "most of you" as I did respond right away too with upload of tracking, message, & Missing Mail Search filed

Why it matters (outside of being a very odd glitch that is extremely misleading and an issue eBay should fix) is because I was waiting until the last second to give it a chance to show up before I went ahead and refunded the buyer. Buy myself as much time as possible for the item to appear, but bail out before there is a real chance for buyer to escalate. I simply didn't trust the buyer to not escalate, item was cheap enough that I rather refund than remotely risk a defect. Take my chances that insurance claim pays out before item has a chance to show up -- 2 weeks missing as of now.

This glitch could have lead to me exposing myself to a defect for 24hrs thinking I was still safe to wait it out while I wasn't. 😛

Hey @wastingtime101 thanks for checking in.  The time frame will always be the day the request was opened + 3 full business days.  So @ajs_coins_and_alchemy assuming your case was opened sometime on the 22nd, you would have had thru the end of the 28th.

@jjddmwi Assuming yours was opened on the 25th, you would have thru the end of tomorrow, the 30th.

We'll be sure to look into the discrepancy as well, and work to get everything aligned properly.

Kyle,
eBay
