I want to cancel an order but I don't know if Ebay will send me back a 20% taxes cut.

I just made a sale but I want to cancel it because I'm getting a lot more charged for shipping than what the buyer paid. Last month, a buyer from a neighbor USA state did with just 6 USD, and for this month sale the buyer just paid 5 USD to ship from South USA up to Canada... But it's asking me for 25 USD to print the label and I didn't have "Free Shipping" as an option selected.

So I want to cancel the order but Ebay asks me to refund the money... Thing is, I sold an item for 50 USD, buyer paid 55.02, I got 45.45 but then ISR (Mexican taxes) took 20% (instead of 1% idk why) leaving me with 36.83, and Ebay asks me to refund those 45.45 USD, which I only have 36.83 on my Ebay account which are retained, and the other 8.62 are asked for me to pay it with my wallet... If I do, will I get those 8.62 USD back later on from Ebay? To my Payoneer account, my defined debit/credit card or where? Or they will do nothing and I'll have to go look with the SAT to get that money back.

I tend to not help those that are engaging in bad behavior.

Let's address what caused this problem first: you chose incorrect shipping services on the listing form. "Large Envelope" is for flats, an untracked service with USPS for which your product does not qualify.

For domestic you should have chosen USPS Ground Advantage

For international either select no service and items will go through eBay International Shipping when they qualify or choose USPS First Class Package service which offers end-to-end tracking to a very small number of countries.

As for the fees, I'm not sure what fee you're referring to that's 20% instead of 1%?

There are: final value fees which amount to 13.25% of the total amount buyer pays plus a $0.40 fixed fee

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822

There is also a fee if you are in Mexico and dealing with currency conversion. Read more about international fees here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/international-fees-ebay-global-sellers?id=52...

As a new seller I do not think you would qualify to use promoted listings to pay an ad fee so that shouldn't be a factor.

If you cancel the transaction, you will get a defect on your account. That's a pretty rough way to get started on eBay. It's generally better to ship the item, take the $ loss on shipping since it was your error, then learn not to make the same mistake next time.

I strongly suggest if you are shipping from So Cal that you learn about USPS shipping services.

Because you are in Mexico, listing on the .com site, you will be evaluated based on seller standards published on the eBay Export website. Review these policies in detail before you list anything else.

You made a mistake on the shipping.

Buyer paid, you need to make up the difference when you ship it.

Have a great day.

You would not have an issue if you were truly sending from where you indicted that you would.  Shipping that item from California to anywhere else in the United States would only cost a few dollars.

you made a mistake - happens to the best of us.  Just own up to it, ship out the package.

If it were me,  would ship it and take the loss on the shipping.

Not a good idea to cancel orders.  Too many of those and your selling days will be done.  I would just ship the item & make your customer happy as that's why we as sellers are supposed to do.  As a new seller it is clear you haven't read all the rules and polices yet.  I would suggest that you do.  Just a suggestion.

Happy Selling

You are located in Mexico and shipping from the US.  That is item location misrepresentation and it is a policy violation.  My suggestion is that you change your shipping location to where you are actually located.

Buyer ID is Mexico and shipping is from California....and where is item really mailed from?

A buyer using an International Credit Card...there is a eBay fee plus an extra fee behinds the standard eBay fee. Just don't know how your account is set up and where the buyer is from.

Tend to agree that we don't know enough about the OP's situation. If is very possible that they may have a registered account in Mexico but maybe they moved or are temporarily in CA. Nothing wrong with that lots of transit buyers/sellers these days.

As a note the international fee has NOTHING to do with the credit card it is based on one of two factors.

If you're not using eBay International Shipping to ship your item, we charge an international fee if either:

  • The delivery address for the item (entered by the buyer during checkout) is outside the US, or
  • The buyer's registered address is outside the US (regardless of the delivery address for the item)

This fee is calculated as 1.65% of the total amount of the sale and is automatically deducted from your sales.

You are shipping from California to Canada and as wastingtime101  noted you have the wrong class of shipping for your item. There are a couple of ways to send your package to Canada figuring a 8 x 10 padded envelope weighing less than 1 pound UPS offers the cheapest option with tracking and insurance.

You are registered in Mexico as a seller and this is mostly a US based discussion forum so not many are probably familiar with the "ISR Mexican Taxes" you will need to provide some more detail on that issue but not sure many will be able to assist.

Unfortunately since your account is not registered in the US you do not qualify for the EIS program. I am not sure if you are temporarily in the US or have permanently relocated but if it is the later you may want to consider setting your account up as a US registered one.

The rule is that in the listing, the location is suppose to be the actual location that the item will be shipping from.  Where the seller is located isn't a consideration.  It is always where the item will be shipping from.

The 1.65% international fee is charged based on where the buyer registered their account.  It doesn't have anything to do with a credit card of any kind.

If a buyer registered their account in Poland and they purchased something from a seller in the USA, that seller would be paying a 1.65% fee unless they were using EIS, then the fee is waived.

You are speaking as if the buyers are willfully not paying the correct shipping, leaving you in the lurch.

It is you as the seller who decides what shipping service is required for each item you put up to sell.. Are you using calculated shipping? Are you not weighing snd measuring your packages prior to listing so you will know what shipping service you need?

Granted, learning the shipping aspect of eBay sales can be a hurdle for new sellers, and you are burdened with international shipping as well.

Canceling your buyer’s transaction because you failed to calculate shipping properly is not a valid reason in eBay’s eyes.

We have all been where you are now—a new seller making shipping mistakes. But when it happened to me,  i ate the overage and took the loss because it was my mistake, not the buyer’s. So, you are stuck . Sellers also can not ask buyers to pay more after the sale.

eBay considers seller-initiated transaction cancellations to be the most damaging offense a seller can commit. It creates a Bad Buying Experience for the customer. It can affect your performance metrics. You could get a defect on your account from eBay, and negative feedback from your buyer.

Below are links to policy regarding seller performance and details what happens when you cancel. Wish you good luck and hope for the best.
