The title sounds interesting, but I'd like to read some of the book too.

our sales are double what they were before we closed for Covid.
we averaged I'll say $100 a day and now we are at @$200+
( not the actual numbers)
we do not charge sales tax or shipping....
which I think is the death of eBay.
I am also wondering how eBay or lets say the state of NJ can charge sales tax on a used item--
we cannot....as a resale second hand thrift shop.
maybe its why we have increased our sales 100%?

what book?

My first thought is that thrift stores have seen an influx of donations because people are spending more time at home and have more time to clear stuff out. At the same time less people are out shopping in stores because of Covid.
I'd like to hear more about what you're referring to, though.

It was a joke., The title was interesting and the body of the post did not continue the story.

And how many purchasers are eBay sellers???

Ah- you're referring to a sales increase. And how do you know the sales increase isn't due to resellers? More people are looking for ways to work from home so perhaps this sales increase at the thrifts is thanks to resellers bringing the merch to online venues. On the flip side- more people are out of work and looking for ways to save money.
Either way I don't see it as the death of eBay- especially since the bulk of eBay sales is new product.

Did it occur to you that many of those buyers are buying to resell?

what book???

new product?
I get taxes on that but what about my sweater I am selling out of my closet
because I am too fat to fit into it anymore
should that be taxed??

Actually, this probably means the opposite. A lot of ebay sellers have been stuck home or their area's thrifts and discount stores closed. They are in dire need of product and are scrambling to find sources.
We buy lots of used books, often in bulk lots. We have a nice deal with one shop where they give us first shot at their books. They tell us they are getting many calls from sellers trying to find books to sell. (They've agreed to continue selling directly to us alone, though they did bump the prices up a bit).
Good luck!

we do have a huge influx of donations...
we are 5 miles from a affluent shore town...
but my point is that we don't charge sales tax ( a lot of people ask)
and our daily intake has doubled...true numbers are $900 a day vs.
yesterday which was $1755.
Before we closed in March we were taking in under $1000 a day...

really?? you don't think we don't know this?? we don't take that into account??
