I've been with ebay since 2000 and I don't even recognise them, anymore!

Like others here have stated, I have been both a buyer AND a seller on ebay. However, several months back, I noticed that they are now 'limiting' the World Community in viewing our items, in order to 'coerce' sellers to pay even MORE MONEY through 'Boosting' our items! So, what it is that they have done here, is to force sellers to either lose money, or be forced to price items higher than reasonable, insuring a 'no sale' situation! It has been thrown upon the 'little guy' to now act like a Corporation!   Twenty-five years again, I've been buying and selling on ebay!  And since they have 'cut-off' the wider community to us, there is now no further value/ reason for me to remain!  Yes, 'there ARE other great choices out there'... All one has to do is to be a little more creative!

You've misunderstood the modern era of online selling. Google/Bing/Yahoo have been doing this for over 10 years. Pay per view; Pay per click etc.

If there are 3000 of the basic same type item for sale- who gets page 1??

Now, a seller can 'pay' their way onto page 1 and increase their sales.

Sell 5 and make $50; Sell 100 and make $700. Might make 'less' per.....but the name of the game (Hence the creation of Big Box Stores, ie. Best Buy, Lowes, Super Walmart, Home Depot etc.) is

$ in your pocket at the end of the day, week, month, year.

As far as changing platforms I am on them all and Ebay is by far the most profitable and most sales in compared to the others. You will find an increase in people not paying or if local pick up they don't show up at all making it a waste of time let alone not making the same money as I would be making on Ebay.

While they are certainly enticing, prompting and strongly suggesting promoted listings I know of NO coercion.

In your case you have a celestion cross over listed. A search for that brings up only 12 listings (including yours). With that few to scroll through paying a promotional fee is absurd.

In your case you only have 3 items in total listed. So, yes, you are not likely to get any major exposure unless someone looks for one of those 3. Again, promoted listings is a waste of money. You need a bigger selection to attract more buyers..

I just looked at a picture of myself in 2000, and I don't even recognize myself anymore.

No, it is the US Postal Service that is doing that, not eBay.  In 2000, a US Priority package was $3.00 if we can get specific.  Now a 12oz Ground Advantage is over $5.00 and we have to pay for the mailer.

One has to list a lot of items here to get exposure...

This next day shipping...that is for the 'birds'...I have a life...I am not Amazon, etc.,etc.

The small sellers can't promote like the big sellers...

Some sellers will post .99 cents items to get on 'page one'...while those .99 cents items are usually worthless and will never sell...so some sellers with 100,000+ items for sale...half of those items for sale are probable garbage items  just being posted on eBay taking up space.

And free returns for 30 days...seriously?...that's like sending items on approval where some items will get returned and make the seller work to try to get some item returned but still lose money...again...sounds like Amazon to me.

One has to wonder if the thinkers of eBay employees hold a double job on Amazon.

Just felt like ranting like everyone else today...LOL.
