I sold an item, it was delivered almost a week ago, but my payment is still on hold from Ebay.

I paid for shipping via the ebay selections and took the package to the USPS to drop it off and send it. The buyer had already paid.

When I got to the post office, I was told that the shipping I selected required it to be in a specific package, and that I didn't have that. I instead, just requested to do shipping through the post office then and got another shipping label from them and sent it. It was delivered to the buyer on the 16th of December, but in my transactions page in Ebay, it still says my payment is on hold, awaiting the package to be delivered to the buyer.

How can I get the payments that are in my Ebay account to my bank account?

Did you upload the new tracking number to eBay? That should clear it.

New sellers will have their payments on hold for up to 21 days. It is for the buyers and sellers protection.

No I haven't done this. How can I update the tracking number?

Their payments are on hold is because they are a new seller.  All new sellers payments go on hold for 21 days.

Unless you edited the original tracking number to show the new tracking number your funds won't be released for 21 days. Then it takes 1-3 days to show up in your checking account.

To add the new tracking number, go to the item in "Paid and Shipped" and next to the original tracking number click the "edit" link and add it there.

The person at the post office scanned the original tracking number I provided from Ebay before he let me know that I couldn't use that specific tracking number for the package I was shipping. Ebay then wouldn't let me cancel the tracking number and said that it had already been used. I ate the price of that and just decided to go and do shipping through them.

When I'm on the selling page, or "Paid and shipped," it's not giving me an option to edit or update the tracking number.

I have never heard of the PO not using an eBay tracking number. What did they give you as a reason.

I'm worried that since I never told Ebay that the tracking number was changed, then they will never know that the package was received and won't release my payments that are on hold. It also seems like I'm unable to change the shipping number of the package now for some reason.

Do you see the original tracking number? What is the status? There is no edit link to the right of the tracking number? If the buyer files an INR, you can upload the new tracking number in your response to the INR.

The only thing I see on the order is the original tracking number provided by Ebay. It's current status is "Tracking provided" and "SHIPPING LBL CREATED USPS AWAITS ITEM. PRE-SHIPMENT INFO SENT USPS AWAITS ITEM" from December 13th.

They told me that the shipping label that I printed wasn't compatible with the box that I had packaged it in, and that I needed to use a different shipping label for the box that it was in.

If you are unable to add a new tracking, I am at a loss as to why. I use the seller hub, perhaps there is a difference. You will be able to supply the new tracking number if the buyer opens an INR. I would consider the advice given by the other members regarding waiting 21 days because you are new. What does the new tracking number indicate re: tracking? You can view it at USPS.com?

The new tracking number states that the item I sold was delivered on the 16th. You're saying that if they file an INR (even though the item was delivered to their address), it would give me the option to change the tracking number to the other one?

This is the message I get when I try to change the shipping label through the Seller Hub: "The tracking number cannot be changed because you purchased the shipping label from eBay label printing platform."
