Hi
A buyer contacted me that I sent him the wrong book and I did. I told him to start a return with lots of apologies. The return has not been started, it's been 4 days and I message politely once a day.
The book he purchased is $35, the book he got sells for $75. Not sure if he wants to keep the more expensive book. It's my mistake I can take the loss. But was wondering where I go from there. His and my messages went through Ebay. Can he neg me on top of my money loss for receiving the wrong book when I messaged him 4 times to start a return?
Not sure what's next?
Thanks for your time

For being dishonest. That's what. The buyer kept merchandise he did not purchase. He purchased a lower value book.
Yes, the seller made a mistake, but anyone with ethics and morals would have paid the seller the difference.
In my opinion, this buyer is trouble. What else will he be dishonest about?

Nope. The item this buyer bought was at a lower price. He got a higher value item instead. Anyone honest such as myself, would have offered to make up the difference.
There is no difference between this and you getting groceries and you noticed that the checkout girl forgot to ring up a couple of items. The honest, ethical, and moral thing to do would be to go back to the store and offer to pay for the items that you got for free. To not do so is stealing.
This buyer blew off the sellers requests. This buyer has proven that he is dishonest. Possibly dishonest enough to cause a inad, and leave a negative feedback. Don't know about you, but I don't want or need buyers like that.

It's only been 4 days, which include a weekend. While sellers needs to log on to eBay constantly, an occasional buyer has no such obligation. I've often ordered things, received something by mistake, sent off an email about it then got busy. A buyer has 30 days from the date of delivery to open a return, I see nothing nefarious so far.
I also believe the seller could be proactive and send the buyer a return label right away, that might get the ball rolling.

Maybe he's waiting for the book he ordered, and, maybe he doesn't know if the book he got is worth 1 dollar or $100. And doesn't care. Everyone here thinks this guy knows the price of books he's not interested in. We still don't know if the OP sent the right book, which, IMO, should have been sent the minute the seller got the email and hopefully was.

As a collector and reseller of Golden Age children's illustrated books and also 1st edition signed Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror I take umbrage at that statement.
You aren't most booksellers then and I have no idea why you would lump yourself in with them! 😁 The Rolls Royce dealer doesn't need to be concerned with any statements about "most car dealers". 😎
