I only List On eBay When I can List For Free. Just Not Enough Sales To Justify A Listing Fee.

I keep finding more and more places to list and they are all free and far more user friendly, like eBay used to be.

True, sales are not as much as on eBay, but there are sales and there is ONLY a FVF.

I recently got a 200 item Free Listing Special from eBay.  So far, 3 sales off it.  It takes a lot of listings on eBay to get a few sales.  If all the money you make goes for fees on what doesn't sell, why bother?  So, I just list when it is free to do so.  If that means only fifty a month, so be it.  Gives me more time to list somewhere else.

Also the reason eBay wants images at a certain size is for eBay.  My images are always big and clear, but I keep getting the notice that they should be a certain number of pixels for better results.  That would have my scanner running very slow and would not make my images any better.

I have come to believe that the requirement is for eBay's data mining.  They are collecting our images for their use and maybe even for selling.

A lot like what is going on at Facebook.  It's why I will never use the eBay HUB which has a BIG BROTHER feel to it.  Where eBay is watching everything we do.

You are very smart i think to only list when its free.   Sometimes i wish we only did that.  Your also right about the traffic on ebay is better than most.  We wish ebay was like it used to be also.  Best regards

I like the sites that get your label for you. 1-3 lbs is $4. 3-10 lbs is $7 etc.. They have a deal with fed ex & USPS. I don’t use smartpost even though it’s cheaper.

I've just started on those - I received a sale on my second day and thought yippee!! But..... no sales since - a couple of offers but no takers. I'll list new things for awhile and if they don't sell - I'll bring them back to Ebay for a couple of months and try again.

eBay has gotten to the point where it's way too time consuming to list here, which adds to your overall cost. eBay can give me all the free listings that it wants, and  it wouldn't make a bit of difference since the biggest problems are TIME and LOW SALES NUMBERS.

eBay is always changing everything every month or so also. With those changes, everyone has to keep tweaking their listings. More TIME expelled, and LESS SALES as a result.

Time is the most valuable thing anyone has.  I have well over a thousand prepared listings in Turbo Lister because it save time.  I keep creating and I put them there until I am ready to list.  I like to have my listing end on Sunday Night.  Even eBay says that is the best time.

So, when they take away TL, I will no longer have time to WASTE listing on eBay's slow List Your Item form and I want nothing to do with the HUB, which to me is SPYWEAR.

It's just becoming too USER UNFRIENDLY for sellers.

Word of warning...When eBay retires TL, you will not be able to open the program on your computer to access those listings. You'll need to export them before hand.

So if your Internet connection is down, you can't run TL? I'll have to test that before I call Bravo Sierra.

No. eBay will disable it on their end and then send the command to the program during a sync up with eBay, just like it does when you have to do re-authorizations periodically. An just like they did about 2 years ago when they disabled TL for all users that still used Windows XP and Internet explorer 7.

I had the same thought. eBay (and Facebook) lured people in, on the presumption that the users were in charge of their interactions on the platform. After everyone is then using the platform, the rules change and the platform exerts control over the interactions, according to its own "values." The original selling point that got everyone to use the platform is long gone, but it's happened gradually, so everyone just keeps going along with the incremental changes. Soon, the platform is unrecognizable as what it once was.

Your own posts on the TL/XP issue claim that it was the UPLOAD, not the export, that stopped working.

Now you're claiming that eBay deliberately downloaded code to your computer that disabled a functioning program? And prevented people from exporting their data?

Now I'm calling Bravo Sierra.

I tried a store when it was only around $15.00 a month and unlimited listings.  It was like an unseen storage.  Few if any sales.

Not interested in a far more expensive one with fewer listings.

So you tried a Store more than 10 years ago when Store listings did not appear in search results!

You are basing you decisions TODAY on a setup that hasn't existed for more than 10 years?

That post was in regards to the early stages of the sync issue and not what was happening to all TL users that summer. At the time when I posted that, Some could still access their (account(s)) on TL and create a listing as long as they didn't attempt to do a TL update prior to the Microsoft sync issue. You just couldn't upload it. eBay was telling some users to do updates, which were then blocking access to your account(s) on TL when the program was reopened.

TL is a windows based program and needs window updates in order to sync up with eBay. Microsoft lied that they did not have the updates for XP via windows 7. eBay TL dept was eventually getting lots calls by members also, thinking the program was just glitching and lots of reps were under the same impression and were forwarding/escalating call tickets. At the time members were getting locked out of TL after doing eBay TL updates.

Since I hadn't done the update I could still access TL, I just couldn't upload anymore or do a TL update at this point, because the sync issue at this point affected everyone with XP.
