So far, in the last three days, I've had 6 return requests opened against me. One is someone who claims the item I sent is counterfeit (not true); one who clearly has buyer's remorse and is trying to use a SNAD to hide it, two foreigners who opened INRs that I can't even access or read because they are on other international ebay sites, one who opened an INR because they paid, then suddenly wanted to cancel, then opened the INR. And likely one oncoming as the person wants to return.
Glory days are here again! That's more than the last few months combined, I think.

ichael - so sorry to hear this is happening to you! I know that my returns usually run in 3 - knock on wood I had that last month!
The new site I'm on only gives the buyer 3 days after receiving the item to open a return - which is nice.

I am sorry! I wonder if it is the use of mobile devices that lead to impulsive purchases and/or not reading the entire description.
The false NAD's chap me....people have figured out a way to get out of paying return shipping.
NPR has an interesting report on returns - ""Fraudulent and abusive returns are a $9-$17 billion per year problem for retailers in the United States," The Retail Equation". It's cold comfort...but we are not alone with all of this.
I hope this is the end of a bad run for you!

I'm curious, on the INRs, has the final delivery date passed? If not make sure to page Trinton.

I started the year like that as well. I had more returns by February 1 than I typically have all year. (I don't and won't do free returns but I tihnk it is getting people in the habit of returning).
Since then I have had abysmal sales so the one upside of that is that the returns stopped.

Yes it is a scam. . It tried to pull the same scam returning a practically new item, wasted a lot of my time fighting him and dealing with ebay. Theplatform is overrun with scammers at the moment. I quit selling as a result.

I am having the same experience with returns. I almost never had any till after this Christmas.
In the past month alone, I had:
One because the buyer said it "smelled bad." It was a sealed perfume she opened. Who knows, maybe it had gone bad?? But this buyer loves to give negatives too....at least two red donuts on each page and a few neutrals too for her chosen sellers. I fully expect one as well, even though she got a full refund.
The second one was a heavy glass piece. The buyer said it did not fit in with her collection. She never returned it when she realized she would have to pay return shipping and a restocking fee. If it was a free return, I would have gotten it back to be sure.
The third return just started. It was a newer rhinestone bracelet with tags. The buyer asked a lot of questions about it before finally buying it. (I regret now I did not block her once the questions got picky.) This was sent new with tags. Reason for the return: the rhinestones catch on her clothing. She is paying return shipping but I am out the forward shipping and fees and the tag will probably be off the item now.
I am just a smaller seller and an older grandma. Right now I am trying to list as much as I can to get rid of things and phase out from this site. I can't imagine what it will be like when "free returns" is implemented. I know you do not have to offer free returns, but even if you don't, my guess is buyers will get more and more in the habit of returning things claiming not as described, so you will lose anyway.
I think sellers have the right to see how many returns a buyer has initiated and the right to block ones that return several items in a set period of time--just like we can for those who do not pay.
Just my thoughts.

My sales are all over the place - but average is still OK for now. I had the worst 5-day-stretch a couple weeks ago than I have in years. But two of the last 5 days of sales have been massive. Today, despite the ebaybucks promo, no sales.

There's a problem with that for me. I am a huge buyer and I would say 25% of my purchases in the last year have had issues. I ignore some of them since they're minor. Today I received a 65 year old guitar with metal parts in the case that had slammed into it for 3000 miles. Bashed the pickup and ruined it. Not the first time, I'm tired of this. The seller's response was pathetic. Couldn't care less about responsibility and wouldn't surprise me if they cheat UPS.
If I got a black flag for every complaint, I would just stop buying.

We get a lot of returns also. It seems like everyone has the same idea at the same time. When it rains it pours. When your down thats when they choose to kick you. Best regards

EBAY constantly talks about returns to the buyers in emails, in banners, on the sites, in the listings...what do you expect???

You know its funny, we had not had any in some time then all of a sudden several in a few days.. Ive been on ebay a long time and Ive had more scammers in the past 2 years than all the rest put together..
