Hi,
I sold a sweater dress a few weeks ago, and the customer wants to return because it doesn't fit. That's no problem I accepted the return. Now that she has shipped it, she's complaining that it's unfair she had to pay shipping to receive and now to return. She also throws in my dress is not true to size, and if my items are not from the US I should say so. It has the NY collection tag, and lables on it. It clearly shows 1X, and I put chest, length measrements in the listing. She said the dress wouldn't fit a size 6. Should I pay return shipping to avoid neg FB? You can look at the dress, it looks like a plus size.

To a small woman that dress is going to look like a tent.
To a very large woman, it might look doll side.
It is all about perspective.
That is why you should lay a tape measure across the important dimensions in the photos so that a buyer can see for themselves.
Now that ebay is hiding the description, I did not see that at first and had to edit my post.
I would just pay for return shipping back.

One neg feedback isn't going to hurt you that much. She's already sent it your way, so it's totally up to you. If you choose not to refund and you do get a neg, you can put in a polite response to mitigate it.

I also just noticed today that the description is being hidden, makes it harder in situations like this. I bet no one will click on "see full description". : ( It shows you that people will always get out of paying if they want to.
Thanks for you advice!

I guess the few dollars for return shipping is not worth the neg FB. The tone of the message tells me it would be neg. She started by saying "I'm very unhappy".
Thank you!

What's going to make me angry, if she leaves me neg FB anyway. Even after I pay for the return.

After considering your situation, I would not reimburse her for return shipping. Your listing gives the chest measurement. 1X can vary based on manufacturer. In some brands a person might wear a 1X, but have to get a 3X in another brand.
If a buyer sees a 46" chest measurement, they should know whether or not the item might work for them. I don't see how the measurement would not fit a size 6.

I bet she didn't even read the description. Even though it was 1X, she should have know by seeing 23" chest. That's not that large for 1X. Then she had the audacity to accuse me that my items are not from the US. I don't block a lot of people, but I think I will this one.
Thanks!

I would explain that the PO got the money for shipping, not you. I sometimes think buyers think the seller pockets that money. Its win-win at the PO and lose-lose for the buyer! But I wouldn't word it that way lol
I also think she is being unreasonable since your return details are listed and are standard ebay policy for items not fitting.
The measurements are there and they are not the measurements of a size 6. They are indeed the measurements of a 1X at least.
I looked at 2 popular clothing sites
Gap lists the bust of an XXL at 45"
and Lane Bryant lists a size 18 at 44"
both are under your chest measurement (although for future I would lay the measuring tape over it so they can see)
Unless the hip measurement is crazy small, she should have known what she was getting into (or not getting into in this case).
If you want to reach out, you can ask her what would make her happy and then decide if you want to do it. If she responds snarky, it's a good indicator that you are not getting positive FB no matter what.
Good luck!

We all operate our businesses as we see fit, but I don't give partial refunds, and I wouldn't pay for her return shipping based on her complaint.. when all measurements WERE INCLUDED in the listing for her to read over prior to her purchase.
Just my opinion, but I think since ebay buyers out there know they are dealing with other "just regular people" as the sellers, many believe they can bully, threaten, cajole, or otherwise twist a seller into doing as the buyer wishes, to the seller's loss.

I know there are plenty of "hidden" policies, but isn't fit still buyer's remorse?

Buyers remorse returns are subject to you return policy. Follow that policy, BLOCK and ignore. Your listing is PERFECT!

It has measurements on the listing, no need for a tape measure. If the buyer did look at the details, that's not the sellers problem. The OP is just lucky they opened a normal return.
