I have a bunch of folders of photos set up and ready to list. I seem to be motivated enough to sort out and label pictures, but when it comes to the actual listing part, I feel no motivation. Not for the B&M store, not for my own stuff.
The stamp expert was in the B&M store this afternoon and I still haven't heard what his opinion is on the stuff I bought. While I'm happy I got what I think is a good deal (because I've found a way to make it work on eBay), I need to know I'm in a similar ballpark in opinion. Because it's where I work I'm a bit concerned the shop owner will feel taken advantage of if the stamp expert's opinion is way off what I think. (My opinion is based on real selling of stamps on eBay, his opinion is based on running a store in the 1990's). The shop owner told me yesterday not to worry about what I bought and we'll just modify how we negotiate going forward, but it still concerns me. (He's all business and pretty good at keeping feelings and sentiments out of negotiations).
Also I remind myself I didn't offer a low price, I asked what he wanted, he told me what he thought was acceptable, and now he's having second thoughts on that. My overwhelming enthusiasm and interest in buying more stamps probably suggests that I know I got a good deal. (I gave that thought, but I think my idea is in a similar ballpark to the stamps actual value as an album. I take albums apart to make better material and sell that, and then liquidate junk material for whatever I can get, which is surprisingly good at times). Albums are of course worth less than breaking it apart because you get good and bad material mixed together.
I complained not too long about not having time to list stuff and this time has come about that I can do whatever I want (for 9 days starting tomorrow night). But time is not useful if there's no motivation. Despite lacking in motivation to list, what I did do is work on templates for all my new types of products with the correct shipping and description template to make it quick and easy to do the listings. So I know once I get motivated it will go really fast (like 75-100 items an hour).

If you own the items, why in the world would you share the results of an appraisal with the person who sold it to you?
It's none of his business.

Try to enjoy your vacation - hopefully, there is a balance in there for the next 9 days where you find ways to do both. 🙂

Never apologize for making a profit
Never apologize for knowing more than the other guy
Never apologize for being in the right place at the right time.
Never apologize for taking a break.

I've got some really nice BC post marks which are selling nicely (different ID obvs) but I can't list them all together without reducing the value.
And I'm trying to decide if I should open the sealed Firefly crates that are taking up space. SF cons might be starting up again and at least the tees would do well.
Or I could go thrifting tomorrow for sewing patterns and hit the comic book store-- motivation needed.
What I am really really hoping for is the Times Colonist Book Sale to happen next April. I usually spend a few hundred dollars and love the vibe. We line up at 7am for the 9am opening-- though a few madmen sleep in the queue. The thrifts don't have good books for me.

They have temporarily frozen your funds until the chargeback is resolved.

We all lose motivation sometimes C, it can be dependant on many things, most important thing I see in you is that you are passionate about what you sell and what you do, and that makes you great at it.
Have a nice break away from the nuts and crazies in eBay land, and come back all cylinders firing.

Sounds like the stamps have you licked. Take the weekend off, recharge your batteries, and start fresh on Monday.

The same to you

"I have a bunch of folders of photos set up and ready to list."
That's the hard part, I have a bunch of items that need to be photographed. Sometimes I work in stages; pictures, drafts, then listing en mass. If you don't work with draft listings try it. For a real vacation take Time Away and you won't have to even ship.

You misunderstand. I bought volumes 1-3 of a 4 volume set. When I went to buy volume 4, the B&M store had called in an expert to give an opinion on what I should pay for the book. That opinion will tell me what he thinks of the other three books (without him having seen them) and also let the B&M store know if the price I paid them is fair. I want to know how close this expert came to my assessment, but the expert is working for the store, not for me. I don't need an expert to look at my stuff. I buy stuff and appraise it based on what I can realistically sell it for here. The catalogue doesn't matter.

Maybe that's what the forum is good for - motivating each other.
When I got up this morning I felt a bit motivated to work on some new stuff I acquired a week ago (I was motivated enough to photograph it all week), but I tell myself if I gravitate to new stuff all the time the old stuff is never going to get listed. I like to clean out my sorted folders of stuff (a folder for each type of item to speed up listing them), before I unload my phone and make new folders.
