Did you ask if they are going to pick up?
Maybe they have a friend local who will pick up.
I would message the buyer that it is local pick up only and ask if they are picking up OR if I should cancel?

First thinking to do is to contact the buyer.

About 13 years ago I sold a car on Ebay when I lived in California and the buyer was in Kansas and he got the car a few days later...
About 10 years ago I sold another car on Ebay when I lived in Idaho and the buyer was in Washington State. He picked up the car a few days later.
Contact the customer and ask what arrangement he is making to pick up the item, without hinting that he lives too far away or made a mistake

A few years ago, I posted photos of an old jeep we had (Ford 41). Had two guy drive from Texas to Alaska, just to look at the bolts. (Yes, they said Ford). Never know what people will do.

No. This is vacation time. They might be going to Atlanta or someplace nearby by driving a car. They will contact you.

The best way to ask them is -
Hello - Thank You for your purchase. I just wanted to know what day and what time you'll be bye to pick up your purchase ?
I want to make sure I'm here when you come.

A few years back, I drove from Chicago to St. Paul, Minnesota on an overnight trip to buy a 1969 Schwinn Orange Krate. No regrets! 😁

The first thing you should have done @2oldyarddogs is to contact your buyer. Communication is so important. You should be asking your buyer this question. They are the ones that need to answer. At this point you don't know if they have plans on being in your neck of the woods sometime soon so they could pick the item up or they may have someone in your area that they can have pick it up or it was a complete mistake on their part.
It is your buyer that has the answers and they are who you need to ask.

Send Message:
Thanks for your purchase. I live in the ##### zip code area of Georgia. I am available this week for you to pick up your item, please let me know what day is best for you.
If the buyer was confused and cannot pick up the item cancel with reason "Buyer requested cancel". If the buyer tells you to just ship the item and you do not want to ship cancel with reason "problem with address".

Just send an email on how they intend to locally pick up the item.
They may have thought they could dodge paying shipping, or that you'd just cover it for them.

Do not do a pickup at your home. Do not do that. Arrange to meet in a public place. Always. Never home pickups.

This is more likely a misunderstanding, not someone trying to "dodge" anything.
