If you listed them as 30 day listings on March 10th, then they would end themselves on March 9th if not sold.   If you relist them now they will be GTC and will use from your freebies.

Were not 30 day fixed as of some time in March changed to GTC automatically?

No.

30-day listings would end on schedule unless the seller had set them up to be relisted automatically.  If they were relisted after March 18, THEN the new listing would be GTC.  Without a relist, the 30-day listing would just end, as it always has.

Any fixed price listing that started from the 18th going forward only had the option to be GTC.   Ones started prior to that date did not and were permitted to end normally.    Ebay didn't change the duration midstream on current listings.

Your free listings start over on the 1st of each month.  That is why you are showing 50 available again after the 1st of the month.
