Truly, I appreciate how well you listened to the overwhelming feedback from the overwhelming amount of sellers who asked you to axe the good til canceled idea. I particularly like how you guys tried to frame it in a way to make it look like it's for our benefit.
Don't bother sending out those surveys anymore if you are going to just delete them without even reading them. It's obvious you do not care what your sellers think. Enjoy the extra money from the people who don't realize their listings are auto renewing, at least until they get mad about it and never sell on eBay again.

This is my prediction 1. They are blindsided by the number of seller’s cancelling listings or 2. They already are prepared for this and this plan is already drawn up for the next seller update because they were too apprehensive to do it all in one move.
Anyhow, my prediction is: they next roll out fees for cancelling ANY listing for any reason.

> Buyers used to be able to find things through the Sellers Stores so Ebay destroyed the individuality of those also and now will only do 1 search in a store before it reverts to the entire site and once again showing the Buyer what Ebay wants them to buy only.
It's just like socialism!

The choice not to grow the business organically has crippled this site. Due to past poor management of this infrastructure they are now forced to charge more to keep up with growth projections. If they stay as is, the growth will not come and stock prices will be drastically effected.
I simply do not think they can change the direction of there business course. They simply cannot charge more but they will try. They simply cannot reduce costs as it will effect profits. They cannot remain idle as it will not show growth.

I believe more of the point is when sellers leave and they get in new ones, those sellers may not provide the services that we do/have. That’s how eBay sales and buyers went way down a few years back. I left for about 18 months myself. I don’t think they are thinking about that. The sellers who have bent over backwards to deliver the services that buyers expect and THE GOOD SELLERS ARE GONE, then they LOSE BUYERS. They have not even come close to getting back the volume of buyers they once had. This, like many other bad ideas, will only make it worse for getting buyers in and good sellers to stay. I’m one of them. If things don’t change for me real soon, I’m out of here! Let a bad seller take my place. If they don’t fix it, then that is exactly what they deserve.
In my opinion, they should bend over backwards for GOOD sellers and should never let them leave. I remember buying a very valuable Hummel and it arrived in a pop tart box. That’s the risks they are taking. WEED OUT THE BAD SELLERS! DON’T RUN OFF YOUR GOOD ONES.

> GTC is a good thing to eBay because in the right circumstances, you will OWE them money.
This is a fantastic point! I remember when my local government instituted a new one dollar a week tax and the first year they did this, instead of spreading it out over the year, they took at ALL up front from the first year's paycheck. At that time, I had a small part time job of just a few hours a week, so my first paycheck was for ZERO dollars, plus, I OWED some of the $50 into the next paycheck!

I just went to revise/edit a listing that is fixed 30 days. Made my edit and clicked Update Listing with the 30 days grayed out and GTC not selectable either. And the category is also valid, as it was selected through the lister (changed that too, no dice).
This is hilarious. Not only is GTC rammed down our throats, apparently editing existing fixed 30 day listings is giving some people errors.

I have been on eBay almost 20 years now. I complained about this roll out and question if it is even legal to not have an opt out. All they are doing is putting themselves in a position to make more money off of us through this automatic billing. At the same time it is making more work for me. I don’t care if it is my dog’s locating chip or my magazine or streaming subscriptions....I can opt out of automatic renewal. I believe the courts have already weighed in on this.

You actually may be on to something here! If they are giving you free listings, than renewing at a charge automatically it seems this may be illegal. I'm not a lawyer.
"In July 1, 2018, California’s amendment to its already consumer friendly law went into effect, requiring businesses who offer subscriptions on a free gift or trial basis clearly and conspicuously disclose whether the price will be charged after the trial ends and requires businesses to provide consumers the option to terminate some offers online (e.g., through an email or other online format). Virginia recently passed a law effective January 1, 2019 with requirements very similar to California’s law"
Anyone want to weigh in

It would be better taken if they treated good sellers as they should be treated. I used to be a manger of a legal/medical practice. As I would tell my staff, “I” couldn’t do my job well without you! It’s very true. If you don’t have a good staff, then your service fails. They have ruined their site with sellers and BUYERS alike. If they don’t get a grip, the good EXPERIENCED sellers have other possible and positive changes that can be made. So if the new sellers and/or the bad sellers stay, I don’t think eBay will survive much longer. They are barely getting by right now, all the more reason of all these ugly changes costing us more money (e.g. promotions!). My concern about the GTC is there have been a few times that my listing changes and when I go to reinstate the listing, it shows TWO categories. So how do we catch that now? I’m having a come to Jesus attitude of late. Do I want to continue:
1. Invoices are incorrect, so I’ve contacted them up to 10 times for ONE invoice that is incorrect, taking up 5-6 hours in total or more of wasted time and the anxiety of actually getting a rep that will take care of it. I’m told they will, but 99% of the time they don’t causing me to call again.
2. Being over-throttled without good cause.
3. No matter what comes up, in all likelihood it will NOT be resolved.
4. Unfair feedback, trying to take care of these issues is like pulling teeth.
5. As soon as you get comfortable and a product is selling well, then you are put at the bottom of the list and you are left sitting on these and taking your milk and bread money to pay for unsold stock.
6. Good example right here, I’m turning to discussion boards to make my voice heard and that is a waste of time and money I could be making elsewhere.
7. When you haven’t sold on eBay for a while or a NEW seller, they get you hooked by being sure you sell a great deal of products and you begin to feel it is a platform you can trust and so you relax and go with the flow.
8. THEN THE BOTTOM FALLS OUT OR THEY COME UP WITH YET ANOTHER DYSFUNCTIONAL DECISION.
9. Why am I wasting my time writing this? I could be making money elsewhere.
10. Jesus help me to understand to get out of the “hell” I have been lured into!

While alot of this post is funny, it is very telling.
You compared Ebay to Hell, and thats pretty much the totality of what I get from most people regarding Ebay.
Its downright painful to use. Its miserable being treated like garbage.
How does a company allow this sentiment to just continue year after year without at least at the very least addressing it?
It all goes to the big picture, the outlook, of Ebay. People simply do not want to be treated like garbage and lab rats. Most people do not get a positive experience out of this platform, yet Ebay continues to fan the fire, to poke and prod people who are burnt out on it all. How can one ever predict success from a company like this? You can't. Its actually an amazing phenomenon that I can't wait see play out.
