I sold an item over christmas to someone who does not believe in holidays. He said I did not ship my item in time, and that I was unapolegetic and rude.
I shipped the item in two business days which is how I list every item I sell. Apparently the buyer does not believe in holidays and was furious that I did not ship on a holiday. He was very hostile in messages sent to me in which I apologized and offered a full refund. This was not to his liking. He left me negative feedback saying that I did not ship the package in time, and that I was unapologetic and rude. I called ebay and they informed me that I was correct I shipped the item in the correct amount of time, but because it ws his opinion that I was "unapologetic and rude" they could not censor him.
I asked ebay to point out exactly where I was rude, and the response was that I had in fact apologized to the buyer and offered a full refund, that there was nothing in any of the messages sent that showed me being unapologetic and rude.
ebay told me to try and resolve this with the buyer, and ask them to do a feedback revision. This is not something they buyer would be willing to do. The buyer already blatantly lied in feedback, and what makes it even worse is that I can not leave any negative feedback for the buyer. I can chose to leave positive feedback or no feedback at all.
am I the only person that thinks that this is unjust, and wrong?

OP left a follow up to a positive on 9/4 for a buyer warning others to not let this buyer bid because she received a neg feedback from this buyer. There are no negs on her received feedback so where did the neg go?

Ah, I see. OP must have had it removed for being unrelated to seller performance.

So~~With 4 feedback in the last 12 months how many removals or revisions will ebay allow you? I would think OP would have worn them out already.

No, you are in the vast majority. The honest feedback system was destroyed in 2008 when the current ceo took power.

Attorney Fees would not justify this at all.
Not for nothing, but seriously, I would look over the terms of service before I did anything like this unless I was ready to sever ties with Ebay. Because if I were ebay and you sued me, I'd excersize my right to refuse your access to my website. So you would waste your money on the Attorney and I'd remove the feedback as a settlement, but you'd be banned from my site and couldn't sell or buy on it anymore. I would seriously do this if you sued me and I were eBay, I'm positive they'd react the same way.

You are so right. No such thing as fair feedback. I have 100% feedback and I have just been demoted to "below standard" because 2.02% of my buyers have given me a 1 or 2 for shipping time, even though I have NEVER not lived up to the terms of my auction and the shipping time quoted in my listings. When I asked ebay (just a few hours ago, actually) why a buyer is allowed to do this, I was told "the buyer is entitled to his opinion." Bottom line - you could live up to all terms of your auction, and still be penalized.

no you are not the only one,a girl ripped me off 400.00 and ebay let her keep the clothes too.
they paid her because she was a liar, and again they support the buyer, not the seller, she won 5 boxes of clothes from me,very nice clothing you can read my feedback if you dont believe me,they were bigger than banana boxes packed full of clothing, she said my stuff was junk and many many other things, she hated the clothes so bad she never returned them after ebay gave her money back, they said they would wait until i recieved my clothing to inspect them,i have a email from ebay to prove that, anyway they paid her the next day,GUESS WHAT SHE ALSO KEPT THE CLOTHING.ALL OF IT.
EBAY SAID EMAIL PAYPAL,AND PAYPAL SAID EMAIL EBAY,WELL AFTER A MONTH OF BACK AND FORTH AND STILL NO MONEY I QUIT.NEITHER WAS GONNA ACCEPT RESPOSIBILITY OF WHAT THEY DONE.IT WAS BACK AND FORTH ALL THE TIME,I FILED SO MANY COMPLAINTS OPENED CASES THAT THEY WOULDNT LET ME DO IT ANYMORE.
so im out 400.00 dollars that was my christmas money to buy christmas.and a very very huge amount of nice clothing.
i sold on ebay because we needed the money,my husband is very ill and we are lucky to pay our bills, thats what hurt the worst,we needed the money.
i have sold on ebay for 14 years, youd think they would believe me over her bull **bleep** she was putting out,she said things that didnt exist but they did not and i say again,THEY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE CASE,THEY WOULD NOT HAVE PAID HER.
so i have quit and will never return to a company that doesnt care how long you have been with them, and went into my paypal and took money they had no right to do,paypal should not be able to take money from your account without written consent,i think if more people knew that paypal will take your money by entering your account without permission they would drop them quite quickly,i do not know of any bank or whatever that is able to do that but i guess paypal is special because they did it.and im sure they always will until they are sued or taken to court.
THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT SELLERS GETTING **bleep**ED ON BY EBAY ,WAKE UP PEOPLE I NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD DO THAT TO ME AFTER 14 YEARS OF MAKING MONEY FOR THEM THEY **bleep**PED ALL OVER ME.
SO YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE,I JUST HOPE YOURS WASNT 400.00 WORTH OF BEING RIPPED OFF PLUS SOME GREAT CLOTHING.

Ebay does not care about the buyer, except as they are the easiest way to make money.
Ebay is in business to make money for their shareholders and do that the best way they know how. If it made them money to throw buyers under the bus, they would do that.
So to say Ebay only cares about the buyer is wrong. Ebay mostly only cares about Ebay.

I looked at a few of your listings, and I see:
Will ship within 10 business days of receiving cleared payment. The seller has specified an extended handling time for this item.
In all honesty, that is simply not acceptable when selling on eBay.

Then ebay should not offer it as an option. If you live up to the terms of your auction, there should be no penalty.

I agree with dotskid. I have been with ebay for over a decade. From what other people have said on various forums, I seem to have missed the good ole days by a number of years, but when I started Ebay wasstill generally a pretty positive experience. What I have noticed over the past decade is that more and more buyers act like every Seller is Big Box retailer. They can't discern the difference between a private Seller and a retail Seller, and they treat Ebay like just another online Retailer. An increasing number of people seem to think that if they are angry and aggressive, the Seller will curl up in a ball and rush to give them exactly what they want, no matter how unfair or unreasonable. At my job on a customer service desk, I see this every single day, and I see huge similarities to how buyers behave on Ebay.
I am not a retailer. I do not make a living on Ebay. Ebay does not make a significant difference in my life. I'm just a guy who occasionally sells items to clean out my closet or get a little spending money in my paypal account so I can turn around and buy stuff on Ebay. I seldom make anything close to what I originally paid for an item (or ask for that), and I seldom charge enough shipping to even cover the entire cost of packing and mailing. Sometimes it's barely worth the effort. But that's OK as long as it's a reasonably pleasant experience.
In other words, I don't need to make a sale. A lot of Buyers don't seem to understand that. When someone gets unpleasant, it's not worth my time. I put up with abuse from customers at my job all day, I'm not going to do it on Ebay. If someone makes me feel uncomfortable for any reason, they immediately go on my BBL. I don't need a bunch of stress over, say, a paltry 8.00 item!
I think everyone should be cordial and reasonable, whether Buyer or Seller, and this would solve a lot of the issues. But considering our society, that's not going to happen. When Ebay gets too unpleasant, I'll simply stop selling again, and resume when I feel like it. I think this is what a lot of people are doing.
