I had an item completely vanish from my listings and one appear that had sold.

Every month, I print off my active listings and use the checkboxes provided to mark everything off to keep track of inventory.

About 5 months ago I listed a time clock. 3 months later I de-listed and re-listed, lowering the price as well. Now anytime I do this, I ALWAYS go back and make sure the original listing is gone, and the new listing has appeared.

I started wondering why it had not sold yet.

Well today I did my inventory and noticed the listing was completely gone.

I looked in unsold, ended, etc and it was not there.

I even tried searching for the exact model number on eBay both under completed and sold, not there either.

Looked in my email to see if anything appeared regarding it, nope.

Stranger yet, I sold a desk lamp about a month ago. Now I only had one, so I didn't touch the quantity box.

It was NOT in my active listings when I went through them briefly 2 weeks ago.

Today, doing inventory, it's back again.

Has anyone had this happen?

yes, all the time, I would guess that right now I have dozens of missing listings

This has been happening to me for years. I have been doing a little inventory and just found another 5 listings that are no longer listed. Funny how when you list things and it's says UNTIL ITEM IS SOLD and then eBay just removes them anyway. It's the eBay way.
