I was doing some online research this morning of one of my higher priced books I have listed. A routine Google search immediately brought up the exact image of my book ( my pics). First search resulted the book title and image but wasn’t linked to my eBay listing, instead it was a yahoo auction site called Buyee in Japan.
It appears someone copied my entire listing and pasted it into their listing description. Along with the exact images.
They inflated the price a bit so if it had sold I’m sure they would have purchased mine and shipped it to their buyer.
I did another search for another higher priced book in my store and he had it listed as well! I wonder how many of my listings he copied.
The sellers user name is sekaimon. Anyone else see their stuff on his listings? He has over 20,000 listings of various items.
I suppose I wouldn’t have minded selling the $250 book to him so he can sell it higher in Japan but I don’t appreciate him stealing my hard work and images.
What can I do or should I do?
I suppose this goes on more than we think.

My thoughts:
- There's nothing eBay can or will do. It has nothing to do with them.
- I suspect that international lawsuits could get pretty expensive. Plus you would need to demonstrate that you were being harmed by someone advertising your item to a wider audience.
- You could send him a message through the Yahoo site in Japan site and ask him to stop.
- You could contact Yahoo in Japan and see if this violates some policy of theirs.

Sekaimon and eBay have a joint venture and have since 2007, besides the site they operate they also puchase on eBay under the Shop Airlines id.
The prices they list on the Japanese site are all inclusive of the item, shipping and import taxes. in addition to that there are order fees which is where Sekaimon make their money.
The only thing you should do is hope they find a buyer in Japan for you, they will then purchase the item on behalf of the Japanese buyer and you ship to their warehouse in California.
Their eBay id has over 1,000,000 feedback as a buyer!

Unlike a mail forwarder you ONLY deal with them, there is never any direct contact with the ultimate buyer. They are a very good company to deal with.

Thank you all for the responses!
I agree, I’m not against my items selling... but was a bit disturbed they copied and pasted my entire item description and images. I was under the impression this was a no, no.
Glad to hear they are reputable to deal with. That does make me feel so much better!

US copyright laws do not cover any other country than the US, so there would be no consequences against them that could be brought. There really is nothing you can do that ispractical about your titles and descriptions being copied, no matter who does it. I have it happen all the time, as other sellers copy mine a lot. I just change mine a little bit so we aren't looking exactly the same.
Successful and experienced seller since 1997, over 70,000 feedback, boardie since the boards were begun.

This has nothing at all to do with copyright. Check the eBay User Agreement, Section 9 specifically, eBay is allowed to use the contents of your listing to assist in marketing your listings through third-parties.
I don't understand how anyone can complain about eBay doing what they can to HELP YOU SELL YOUR GOODS.

Good point about the user agreement. I bring up copyright because so many people think their words are protected from being copied when they really are not.

I wish Shop Airline would buy ALL my listings...they have been a great company to sell to. Never a problem & always leave positive feedback.
100%... Please list all my items, and sell them for me! Shop Airlines has always been easy to deal with, and all you usually have to do is write the item number on the shipping label.

Love that site. The second I stick up anything to do with vintage Disney fabric, it is out the door to Japan through this company.
