Good Morning,
I have a buyer that did not pick up her purchase in time from her post office.
So it's being returned to me. She still wants the package and is willing to pay for the postage back to her using Paypal.
I know you can't communicate outside of eBay. So I am assuming that I can give her my email address which Paypal requires through eBay messaging. Would this be the correct way to do this? Thanks 😊

As long as there's been a recent transaction, you can share contact information.

@flp : In addition, if you look at the Order Details page for that transaction, you should find the buyer's phone number in their contact info.

I would block and not communicate with her any longer. You should know better.

Go ahead and send your Paypal ID - if they pay, they get the package, if they don't, they will not.

Well, why not? When I get the package, I'll contact her with my info. and not before then. If I don't get the package, I don't. PS I don't need to be schooled ("You should know better.")

Once a buyer is a problem, they will grow into a bigger problem if you allow it. These things tend to blow up in your face. I would not do any further business with that person on this platform. If you cannot comprehend this, that’s on you. I’ve already learned my lesson more than a few times. It’s not worth the risk.

Well, I appreciate your time but not your advice although I'm sorry you've been burned a few times. You haven't seen our emails and are just assuming she's a problem buyer. Plus, tracking shows it is indeed being returned. "If you can't comprehend that, it's on you."

Thank you --appreciate it

@flp also, on the order details page, there is a drop down 'show contact info' on the far right side of the page. ebay inserts there own email address for sellers to contact the buyer thru ebay messages>
We replace email addresses with aliases for buyers and sellers to hide personal contact information. When you communicate, your email appears like 63ae59ac280fe0fa69@members.ebay.com and is sent through our secure platform.

I think much of the advice you have received is dangerous.
IMHO, this is what you do:

I cannot picture myself alienating a paying buyer over an inconsequential matter such as this. They didn’t pick up their package. It happens. It is hardly an egregious issue to block over. If it’s not worth it to you to keep a sale and a buyer over, that’s ok. But i would not harshly criticize a fellow seller who feels differently.

This little issue is a molehill, not a mountain. After all, doesn't the buyer have to trust that the seller will ship the item back out?

You came here asking for advice on how to proceed, but it seems to me what you really want is for people to justify taking communication off the platform. That's your business if you do. Some sellers do take that and other risks. I do not recommend it.
The buyer is a problem. She ordered something, then let it set at the post office for 15 days - the amount of time USPS keeps Ground Advantage and Priority Mail packages after the first attempt of delivery. That's over two weeks. This makes the buyer a problem for you, because you are now having to come to this board to ask for advice on how to proceed, rather than handling other matters that actually make you more money.
You run your business however you want. Maybe you will get lucky and there won't be a problem.
