I use business policies, and have one for Payments requiring buyers to use Paypal. To stay in the guarenteed delivery program, I have checked the box requiring Immediate Payment via Paypal. This now will not allow me to list auctions as I get an error saying I must list a Buy it Now price (which costs money). What can I do so that I can list auctions?? Thank you.

In order to be in the Guarenteed delivery program, IPR must be activated, and payments are made immediately for each item, right(?), even if they buy several items over the course of a few hours. It's not clear how combined shipping or invoicing a group of items can happen under this program. Anyone know?

Another reason your bad idea won't work @schweizer135 is that buyers when paying with PayPal have the choice to pay with PayPal balance, Credit Card, bank account balance, etc. The buyer gets to make that decision, at the TIME OF PAYMENT. In Auctions, that's after the auction ends.
Read the comments by others. They're right.

Im pretty sure GD doesnt allow for combined shipping or if it does its some complicated mess via the checkout that buyers probably wont know how to use it

Another thing you might want to check on is if auction listings even qualify for the Guaranteed Delivery program. I thought I read when this program was first introduced that they did not but since I have no interest in this Guaranteed Delivery I didn't check it out any more to see if that were true.

The Help page that I linked above has a FAQ entry about "Why don't auction-style listings qualify for Guaranteed Delivery?"

@schweizer135 wrote:I am using Business Policies, therefore the IPR checkbox is buried in the Policy and not shown when creating an ad as it may be for those not using Business Policies. As for Immediate Payment, the payment is meant to be automatic from the buyer's account (ie: Paypal) and not something requiring them to be present or to take any action, so I don't see why that can't be applied to Auctions as well. When the auction ends, the Winner's payment should be automatically sent.
The thing is it involves more than just paying in involves choosing a cc or bank account. It also can have to do with choosing shipping address at check out. You'd find an increase in bidders wanting to change the address after payment went through.

I don't see how auctions could qualify for Guaranteed Delivery. The whole idea of GD is to assure buyers if they buy something now they will get it on or before a specific date. There's no way that can be known with auction endings and time to pay.

It could work logistically but I think the point is for Ebay to compete with Amazon. Buy today, get in X days.
