for the past few weeks now ebay requires me to prove that I'm not a robot by completing their captcha. I have to do it once before logging in and one more time immediately after logging in. what the heck man? talk about paranoid.
before the captcha was a those dumb "click the pictures that contain hydrants". now it's even worse. i have to drag a puzzle piece to fit EXACTLY on the rest of the puzzle. if i am off by 1 pixel, it fails and i have to try again. and the puzzle piece is ENLARGED slightly so i cant even line up an edge to the edge of the rest of the puzzle. i have to guess that the puzzle piece is sitting in the exact center of the slot.
you gotta fix this mess and fire the guy who came up with this masterpiece.

Makes me wonder, how on Earth is this supposed to protect us from potentail hackers? Cannot they "drag the puzzle piece"?
The puzzle -- like the other Captcha verifications such as typing in an obscured number or identifying items in pictures -- is designed to be used in combination with the standard username/password login. Making users solve a puzzle before being able to enter a username and password prevents the use of automated tools to enter multiple passwords to try to break into an account.
While a human attacker could easily solve the puzzle and then enter passwords, this is much slower and less likely to be worthwhile for the hacker compared to using a bot.

You are welcome.
The verifications are still annoying for most regular users, but they are much more bothersome to hackers.

Just do the vision impaired option to get around the puzzle $hit. All this two factor, robot preventative bull$hit is just to link another email, phone, computer, tablet etc with you and your accounts for advertising purposes.

Works gewd for me.
Firefox 76.0.1 (64-bit) for Ubuntu canonical 1.0
I do not have to line it up perfect, close yes.
Also I can close the browser, open it back up and often no captcha.
Granted I have clear cookies / history upon close ON.

Is it really more annoying to actual users, or hackers/bots? I'll be looking at this next:
