Did you mean:

I am not a robot!!!!

for the past few weeks now ebay requires me to prove that I'm not a robot by completing their captcha. I have to do it once before logging in and one more time immediately after logging in. what the heck man? talk about paranoid.

before the captcha was a those dumb "click the pictures that contain hydrants". now it's even worse. i have to drag a puzzle piece to fit EXACTLY on the rest of the puzzle. if i am off by 1 pixel, it fails and i have to try again. and the puzzle piece is ENLARGED slightly so i cant even line up an edge to the edge of the rest of the puzzle. i have to guess that the puzzle piece is sitting in the exact center of the slot.

you gotta fix this mess and fire the guy who came up with this masterpiece.

Verification is typically used to prevent bots from attempting to sign in to your account -- by proving that you can recognize images you demonstrate that you are not a bot.

Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems are due to using an old browser or obsolete  cookies.

If you are having issues signing in or getting stuck in a verification loop or stuck with a verification page that does not work, here are my general sign-in tips and recommendations:

Make sure you are allowing the sign-in page to load completely before attempting to sign in -- others have indicated that attempting to sign in before the page has loaded can cause problems.

Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies, or try another browser. Make sure your browser allows javascript. VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one.

If you still have problems, when you get to a sign-in page again, delete everything in the URL after the .dll part, so that the address looks like this:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Then hit 'enter' to load that page -- that should give you the old pre-Facebook sign-in. Once you have signed in there, if eBay gives you another new sign-in page or verification page, click on the eBay logo to go to the main page, and you should be signed in at that point, at least until eBay changes things again.

I am not a robot!!!!

I get this about 60% of the time, and normal log in the rest of the time; lately it's the puzzle which I actually like better than the endless clicks to find the stoplights or palm trees in the fog or cars two miles away!

Then it loops x2 ; then twice again on logging out which is a hoot trying to prove that I didn't turn into a robot after logging in!

It started about a month ago for me, there are discussions about this intentional "glitch" on the technical boards.

Perhaps it would be beneficial for you to post which version of eBay's platform you're using, along with which OS and browser you're using to access eBay.

I am not a robot!!!!

That's funny - I can't see it because I get a white background in Firefox.
I can see & move the puzzle piece, I just can't see the rest of the puzzle.

Yesterday I called eBay & talked to a supervisor whose aware they've received many complaints about this issue.

He forwarded the issue to the tech dept. and "hopes it gets fixed this time." He said eBay currently only really works with Chrome, and suggested I use another browser or device.

I was able to login via Chromium and Safari on the same computer without having to complete any security measure; Just can't use Firefox. 😫

Have you tried to refresh that Verification popup using the link under the slide to see if you can make the background appear?

If that does not work, have you tried the audio version? It is still annoying, but annoying in a different way than the slide option -- it might be easier for some folks.

If all else fails, you can always try the sign-in link method described in my message above -- that should get you signed in without having to go through verification. (Nobody tell the bots)

I am not a robot!!!!

I use eBay's two step verification:

Username & password, then it sends a 6 digit code to my phone that I have to type in...no captchas, puzzles or robot stuff....:)

New version of Edge comes out mid January 2020, btw...

Refreshing is futile: New puzzle piece, same background.

Did not try audio.

I hadn’t tried your alternate login method until you replied, BUT IT WORKED!   ðŸ˜Ž

As I suspected, the supervisor was just plain wrong.

It’s not that the website is incompatible with Firefox, it’s just the stupid new puzzle!

My login problem began with the appearance of the new puzzling puzzle.

I’m puzzled why the supervisor said eBay only works with Chrome (after speaking with the Security dept).

Guess he was really a stupidvisor.  ðŸ¤¡

It's a pain in the ass. Multiple login attempts due to captcha in Firefox.  Please ebay: do switch this nonsens OFF.  It is anoying and stops people login to ebay!

I spoke with another eBay mgr who was slightly more knowledgable about browsers, but even he knew nothing about the puzzle gizmo. I sent him the screenshot I posted here so he could send it along with another complaint to the IT dept. He was surprised that another rep. had said the site doesn't work with Firefox because he uses Firefox at home.

Yesterday I encountered a new roadblock when attempting to sign in via FF. I used the url eburtonlab posted, and was instructed to perform another verification process. That would be okay if it quickly sent me an email, but noooooo - E.B must phone home. ðŸ‘½

Every other site that needs to verify my account will send a code via email, BUT NOT EBAY!

Gotta be different, gotta be maddening, gotta drive users away! Robot Mad

Complete **bleep**. I use Auction Magic to keep track of the hundreds of listings we purchase now we're dead in the water because of that Captcha **bleep**.

Yeah, I can't use Auction Magic anymore for the same reason. I can get into eBay, but not Auction Magic.
Maybe eBay needs to go back to square one.
