This is my first sell on eBay, in which I was selling an airsoft gun I can part with. I received a pretty good offer, and after checking over the account to see they had good reviews I accepted. It was then I ran into some issues. The account is texting me in very broken english, and when I provided my PayPal email to send payment, they did not pay. Instead, they suggested I buy a 300 dollar apple gift card and include it with the item to send to their nephew who is at a different address than on their account, and said they can just PayPal me the money to cover that as well. All of this screams scam to me, and I do not wish to sell to this person. However, I don’t see an option anywhere to cancel this sale. As they have not payed me anything, I would assume I could, but am I just screwed and have to sell to this party I am extremely uncomfortable with? Thank you for any insight as I am very lost at what to do.

It is the start of a scam and the "buyer" will never pay. Open an Unpaid Item case in the Resolution Center, link at the bottom of the page. It can be opened 48 hours after the listing ended and can be closed 96 hours after the listing ended.

It is a scam. Don't text a buyer - keep it in ebay messaging. They just want your address to send you a fake 'paid' email. Never deal with someone who wants you at add a gift card. You will send them the proof and poof, it is used long before you notice it hasn't been paid. An old scam, they don't need it for a birthday and they aren't in the military (or, if they are, it isn't ours).

you do not need to provide anyone with you email or phone number..............thats not how ebay works
do not communicate with anybody who wants to text your or email you.this is forbidden by ebay
the message system in ebay is used for communication
just say no to gift cards..............they do not belong with ebay

This old gift card scam. Open unpaid item case let it ride through to the end to get your listing fee credit back. Make sure you BLOCK the buyers id. Since you have no feeback on ebay you will be targeted again by these scammers every time you try and list an expensive item. I recommend selling cheaper items first and building your feedback. Oh make sure to report that scammers details to ebay.
