I Love this new feature... Just kidding

I go to either an item I have bought. Or one that has sold. I went there because I LIKED THAT PARTICULAR SELLER. Click on that item and the artificial Intel takes me to a piece of garbage... And it says" This item has sold, we thought you might like this!" GO AWAY EBAY. The problem with ebays  artificial Intel is it needs a set of eyeballs... Or a set of eye glasses. I've been on here 18 years, I know how to get around this, but does anyone think new buyers do? What a nightmare this place has become!

not saying it works well............but some new buyers may get a suggestion of something that is what they want......

We often judge stuff ONLY by our wants/needs............there are others out there that have different ones........

I think all buyers like it.

If you were not a seller also you would not be looking at it from a sellers perspective and only see it as a buyer would see it.

You have to be able to separate selling perspectives from buyer perspectives.  Tools and features are generally for the audience they are targeted at.

Good Luck Selling!

It's poorly implemented - I think what would be better is to present the truncated version of the ended listing, with a gallery of suggestions underneath it, which is what Etsy does. This gives the individual searching the opportunity to look at WHAT THEY WANTED TO LOOK AT (not what the site 'thinks' they wanted to look at) plus several suggestions (not just one) of alternate 'like' items - a better shot at the buyer seeing an alternate that they're interested in and showcases more of what eBay has.

It's an absolutely HORRIBLE "feature".

I have actually TWICE almost sent out the wrong item to buyers when that RIDICULOUS "this item sold, but we found this for you" comes up.  I didn't notice or remember that nonsense happens, and the item it showed was actually a different item I myself was also selling.  It was quite different item, but yes, it could be considered "similar".  (They were antique lamp parts, and there are so many different types you can have or need).  But I clicked on the sold item to pack it up, and it showed one of my items, but it wasn't the one that sold!  It was a different part, that ebay deicded to show me instead, as "this item is no longer availabble., but we found this one for you".  THANK goodness both times, I caught the "error" when I was printing out the label.

I wish you could turn that off, as even forgetting me almost sending out the wrong items, it's a hassle, as it causes extra clicks.  I sometimes put reference numbers in my listings, so I can find them easier, so I often click on the sold item on my phone to go to the description so I can find the reference number to locate the item to pack.  It used to be ONE click.  Then ebay began "hiding" the description, so I have to click twice to get to it.  Now they show an entirely diffrerent listing once it's sold, so you have to first click the link, then click the ACTUAL listing (as now they hid it too, with this RIDICULOUS "this item sold, but we found this for you" thing, then clock the description.  Every time ebay adds an "enhacement" it causes more time and clicking and headaches.

I am convinced that whoever ebay has dreaming up these horrible new "features" are not people that actually use the site themselves, as all they do is make things more cumbersome.

Speaking of wearing one's buyer hat, what I've heard several times now (friends and relatives ask me this because they know I have a couple of stores here) is "How do I opt out of this?"

Not a popular feature with them, at any rate.

My only thought as to WHY eBay is doing this (because people usually don't just stumble into ended listings when they're browsing on the site - you have to actually intend to look at it) is in the off chance that the listing appears on Google, this provides a link to a live listing. The last two I've looked at have done the usual not so great job of presenting a 'like' item, but at least led to another item from the SAME seller.  That's a good start at any rate.

Agree with this. Just looked at a silverplate ship item no longer available and the subsitute was a book about a ship in Alaska, made no sense. The only thing similar was the price and the word ship, c'mon.
