How would this make you feel?

Second experience with the 'new' payment system: Sold an item and the entire process from customer payment to being available in my bank account took SIX DAYS!  In the meantime, the customer received the package in 4 days - TWO WHOLE DAYS BEFORE I HAD ACCESS TO MY PAYMENT!

Methinks someone is pulling my taffy here...

PayPal, how did I love thee, let me count the ways (AND MY MONEY FIRST)!  One would seriously get the idea that policies of that entity who shall not be named are not user friendly - or in their words "Let's BLEEP! our customers!

It would make feel that I was looking at a common and ordinary business transaction.  What's the problem?

Re: How would this make you feel?

It would make me feel GOOD that the money went in to my account.

I don't mind waiting a few days.

I also don't mind if the customer got his item before i got paid. That would make the customer happy.

When you go to the store and pay with your credit card, you walk out with bags of merchandise immediately, but the retailer does not receive payment until it finishes processing between financial institutions which can take several days. This is no different.

PayPal spoiled small sellers by fronting the money before they had it- eBay isn't doing that.

On Amazon I get paid once every two weeks, and each payment has a reserve withheld in case of returns- which means I may not see funds until a month or more after the transaction.

You can still be a hobby seller on this site- but your payments will be handled as most business transactions are.

For what it's worth- eBay has shortened the payment processing time to 2 days (or less). The payout time is dependent on your bank's processing speed. When I first signed up a couple years of  ago, I had a few payments in the processing state for about 10 days if the buyer used AmEx or Discover. eBay changed things to the 2 day rule (it's even written into the policy pages) and everything is moving faster. Either that- or eBay is fronting any funds that haven't cleared after 2 days- I'm not sure. Whatever they did on the backend- eBay is getting funds to sellers much faster than even a year ago.

Re: How would this make you feel?

Yeah, six days is a long time.  Doesn't eBay promise deposits in fewer days?   Although they keep changing it so I can't even say how many days it's at now.  Some states have laws saying such deposits must be made within 2 days.  Seems like one of those things that's going to need more R & R (research and regulation) before we all understand or completely accept it.  Hang in there.

Re: How would this make you feel?

Thanks for your mis-understanding of my question...WE ARE NOT RETAILERS WHO DO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN SALES A DAY!

I can send money across the US in seconds and across the world in minutes and somehow we are expected to believe that it STILL takes days to process a simple cash transaction?

NO - money is deducted immediately from the seller's account - I know because we balance the books within minutes of making an online transaction (backed up by my bank on this) - Bad enough that you believe this, just don't try to convince anyone else...it's (BLEEP)! (BLEEP)! crazy!

@lightrasp

As a seller you are allowed to change your handling time for example to say 5 buisness days to account for this lag.

It's not ideal but it is an option.

Since it isn't going to change - in all likelihood - just consider it as ebay being the toll booth in the bottleneck, with cliffs on either side of the traffic lanes.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

And on each side of the toll boths, there are 2 or 3 murder holes that eBay will use to shoot as many arrows as they can while the seller is at a full stop, dutifully paying their tolls.😉🏴☠️🌋
