I know... everyone is using their cell phones to buy off of eBay now... but it seems that NO ONE is actually reading the full item description anymore - then complaining because what they bought (exactly as carefully described) didn't match what they 'assumed' - because they obviously NEVER read your full description!
I'm actually starting to beg now, at the top of my listings, for buyers to READ the full description... but the stupid entitled Karen's won't! I've had more return requests the last 3 months than in my last 20 total years combined! I state no returns on all of my sales to reduce some of this, but the Karen's don't care and file claims anyway - which eBay will always approve 😕
How can we fix this?

Why is having a hobby and selling a dirty word? Many people create beautiful things as a hobby and sell their items. Look at how successful, etsy, and amazon homemade is. Those are mostly people that have had or have hobbies and are successful sellers. OK, the Not Professional part could have been left out, but I would rather have something that is homemade with care then something mass produced in China!
Selling homemade items is fine. The fact that making homemade items as a hobby really has nothing to do with being a hobby seller. You are taking a noun (what they sell) and equating it with an adjective (description of seller)--they don't have the same definitions depending on how you use them.

Your twisting the words around to fit your meaning. No matter if it is a noun or an adjective it doesn't matter. The word hobby and professional is what the poster objected to, whether it is a hobby seller or seller who has a hobby. Maybe selling is her hobby. So what, it's a hobby.

I didn't twist anything. Maybe selling is her hobby, so why were you acting like we were disparaging selling homemade items.

Yes, buyers are using mobile. Over 50% of my sales are via the app
Which is why you need to make SURE that your descriptions are easily readable on the app.
Plain text
No scrolling banners
Left justified
No long TOS
That Auctiva template that you are using may be "mobile friendly", but it is NOT easily readable on my phone.
The items banner at the top is blank ... and I have to scroll and scroll and scroll (I counted 10 scrolls) to read the whole thing on one of your Simplicity listings.
You have more TOS than description 😞

Why do you constantly want to pick fights with me? Is this Your Hobby? I'm trying to help people and you have to be a downer! What did I ever do to you?

Hello everyone,
This thread is getting a bit heated. Please remember that it’s fine to disagree with others, but discussion should always remain courteous and respectful.

Let me guess...
A local pickup only item.
That however is partly ebay's fault for allowing local pickups to show up under "Free shipping."
It's an easy fix, well maybe not considering ebay's programming team's past exploits.

With 1,354 active listings we might be skipping a tad past the "hobbyist" realm and actually having to be real world sellers.

No it was free shipping in the USA, but Karen in the UK didn't read the description. The seller doesn't even ship to the UK.. Seller should have had the UK blocked though..

Ok that's still seller's fault, if a buyer is technically savvy they can hold a seller's feet to the fire over that.

We recently started writing the description IN the photos! We sell gemstones & beads so we will put QTY and include a photo with a penny next to the item for size AND because people dont seem even know the size of a penny we write on every photo "Enlarged To Show Detail" ~~~EVEN with including info written ON every photo we STILL will get a return something because they didnt even read the PHOTOS! I will say it has cut down greatly on returns and not as described.
As to "how can we fix this?" HA HA HA!

Did every single reply contain something inappropriate?
I suspect the thread title had something objectionable that was redacted, so now every single post carrying the thread title through has the 'mod' widget. Probably the "Karen", if I recall.
