How to issue a partial refund

I had an item reach my buyer not in the condtion advertized.  I accept full responsibility for this and he has agreed to a partial refund.  Is there a way to handle this through eBay or would I only go through PayPal to handle this?

Go through the paypal transaction.

Click refund and on the next screen set the refund amount.

Sorry to post to an old thread but quick question - if you give a partial refund through Paypal, will the ebay open returns / replacements update itself or do I have to call ebay and let them know? We had a customer who had ordered a kit of three carburetor parts from us and ended up not needing two of them so we agreed he can send those back and keep the other one and get a partial refund.

if he open  a case of return on Ebay and you refund partial on Paypal,it would not make any changes to Ebay case.

There is no partial refund on EBay.

either refund in full or refund none .

you can ask him to close the Ebay case and the two of you deal via Paypal.
