How to hide quantity of sold items on my eBay ad.

I want to hide the quantity sold so my competitors cannot see how many are being sold.

Re: How to hide quantity of sold items on my eBay ad.

Sell one.

End the listing.

Sell similar.

More work. Will likely reduce sales, kill off site search, but will accomplish your goal.

You can only hide how many items you have. Not how many you sold. Besides no one can see who you sold the item to anyway it’s no longer clickable.

My question is...why?

The OP said why  “so my competitors cannot see how many are being sold”.

no kidding.  "You've sold THAT many at $2.99?  and ... made money?!  Guess I won't even try to sell that same thing."

Now truth be told, I've seen others try and sell the same things, often even stealing my photos and trying to undercut my prices.   Go for it.   Free market.   Of course, it's easy to find those that are somehow outselling me with even double or triple the price.  But... at what Promoted ad rate is THAT costing them?

While doing market research is 100% a good business practice, being 'worried about your competition seeing you are successful' is an exercise in frustration.

You will create more competitors as they see how many items of yours can be sold.

Same here. Those competitors always seem to "fizzle out" and go away.  I'm still here, still selling that item.

@endcapmonkey

As others have said, that works in your favor.

I have actually used that metric from other sellers on whether to sell something on ebay. There are times I have decided not to purchase an item because I felt I could not beat their price nor cut into their market share.

But...on the other hand....I've also said "Oh yeah...there is a piece of the pie there that I can take!"

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. And besides, I don't think you can do anything with it anyway as far as hiding it.

Re: How to hide quantity of sold items on my eBay ad.

The only way to 'hide" the Sold count would be to end the listing and then relist using "Sell similar". The Sold count will start over at zero, making it look like you haven't sold any of them.

I guess in addition to my above comments is a real method to achieve your desired result:

If you want to do this, list single quantity listings, not multi.   Sell the item.  End the listing.  List another.  Sell the item.  End the listing.  List another....

However, I think most sellers would call that more work and more expense than it's worth.
