How to create variation on categories that don't support variations?

Currently, I'm trying to create variations for some protein powders (different flavors), cat food (different flavors) and soft drinks. But the exact product in eBay's system does not support variations. What should I do?

list them individually........you can not create variations if the category doesn't allow it.

Is it the category that doesn't allow the variations or the item that's in the ebay catalog?

Are you using sell similar or creating it from scratch? Because cat food does support variations.

While we're on the topic of variation listings...

I'm curious about what you all would do with 35 pairs of sun glasses. They are all different colors/designs. 

It took me waaaay too long to complete.  Create the variation labels, upload photos, etc. Maybe you pro sellers have an automated setup. There's no way I'm going to go through that again unless it's going to make a lot of coin.

Is it faster to do on your phone? Like take the pic, label...rinse repeat?

It's not more work than creating individual listings for every item. There isn't a shortcut and the phone app is nearly impossible to use for creating variations.

I would create a different listing for each designer and silhouette, then put all applicable colors as variations.

It there a way to create an option of combining items on a variations listing?

For example, I have a pair of headlights for a car, left and right. I want to create a variations listing to allow a buyer to buy either one of the headlights or both.

If you have a variation listing for a right headlight, and a left headlight, the buyer can add one or the other or both to the cart.
