Before 2022 you could sell under $ 20.000 and would not get 1099... the fun is gone selling on e-bay.

You don't have a Store subscription, so there is nothing to close. Just stop listing.

If you were abiding by the law, you would have been reporting your income and deducting your expenses in the past. NOTHING has changed in that respect.
The reason the IRS is requiring 1099Ks to be sent is because too many sellers were evading taxes.

Now that you gotta do what you should have been doing all along, it's not fun anymore?
You were still supposed to be reporting your income, even if you didn't receive a 1099-K.

Ebay didn't come up this the IRS did and every platform that processes a payment for your sales will do the same.

Ok so you don't want to sell. You can just let the account go dormant. Even if you do close it, your information will not go away. You could leave it open for buying or if you change your mind at a later date, for selling.

It is painful for me to see you ask this question and be attacked and misinformed by so many posters. It is just so typical here...you should be able to close your account without getting accused of things.
Having gone through a few closures myself, this subscription issue did come up for me on one of my closures. The only way I was able to get it resolved was by contacting CS. I had no subscription that I could see. CS had to investigate it, took a few days and they removed whatever 'subscription' was blocking the closure.
eBay makes it very difficult and time consuming to close your account so just be prepared for that.

OP should be able to delete their account if they want.

Hi @falo1950
If you think you might want to continue to buy on eBay occasionally ... there's no charge or penalty to simply stop selling and leaving your account open. [Zero-feedback buyers have a bad rap ... so opening a new account is less desirable if you decide to buy again. You may even decide to sell again in the future.]
You should be able to remove your checking account that you use to process buyer's payments at some point ... depending on when you sold your last item.

As long as a buyer can file a chargeback is how long eBay will make you keep your account open. So try closing it 6 months after your last sale and then you'll be able to close it no problem.
