How to appeal a return base (from seller perspective)

Hi!

I need urgent help. I sold an item which I described as defective, yet a buyer decided that it does not match the description (of being defective) and requested a return/refund. I escalated the case to eBay, hoping for help. They did not and decided that the buyer is right. Now I want to appeal the decision, but no links seem to work and bring me to a place where I can appeal. Can someone help please?

Thank you!

It's a defective product. You should have accepted the return and moved on regardless if you listed it on 'defective/for parts'. It's a vague category, and buyers will typically always win INAD cases.

Ebay doesn't inspect and match items so they will go based on what is reported.

Here is appeal information.

You needed to accept the return request and refund when you got it back. Fighting over whether a buyer can or can't return an item died out a long time ago on Ebay. A buyer can return for any reason, even if you "don't accept returns"

You're wasting your time appealing the decision.

Ebay will eventually find in the buyers favor (again) and refund the buyer with your funds.

They will also not require the buyer to send back the item.

Sorry, I know this is not what you want to hear.

Since you did not accept the return but rather let eBay make the decision for you it means there is no appeal allowed.

If you had accepted the return you could have appealed but at best that would only get you a refund of the return shipping costs.

Are you sure about that? I have only ever tried to appeal one return. Several months ago I got an INAD and accepted the return. What I got back was a completely different item (an 8lb item in a 22x22x6 box when I shipped a small 1lb item in a 10x8x4 box).

Ebay would not let me appeal the return. The message said there was 'nothing to appeal because I accepted the return'.

That's not true.

You can appeal ebays decision within 30 days of the decision.

If you handle it yourself then there is nothing to appeal because it was voluntary.

Re: How to appeal a return base (from seller perspective)

I had a *Buyer* attempt to take advantage as a new seller. I denied the return as it was without merit.  eBay refunded her from my account.  I provided evidence that she was abusing the return guarantee and attempted to send me an item that was verified to not be the item I sold/shipped.  The appeal process works but keep very thorough records.
