How to Invoice a Buyer after Negotiating a Second Chance Offer?

The winning bidder of an auction did not pay, so I offered the item to another bidder as a Second Chance Offer. The other bidder said they would be willing to buy it for a lower price, so I agreed to sell it to them at that price. I am unable to create another second chance offer because the bidder was already made an offer. How can I invoice the user for the item at a specific price?

There's no way to invoice him directly.  All eBay transactions must be through a listing. So you have to relist the item.

What you're looking to do is not possible.  The offer goes for the under-bidder's high bid.

What you would need to do is to relist it.

You do run the risk of someone else snatching it up.  There are potentially two ways to avoid that.

1)  List at a stupid high price with Best Offer enabled.  When that buyer's best offer comes through, you accept it.

2) List it as an auction with the agreed upon price as the starting bid.  When your bidder bids, you end the auction with him as the winner.

BUT... When I look at your sold listings, I see two auctions that recently ended.  One only ended today and other one ended two days ago.  You really need to go through the Unpaid Item process before you resell either of those items.

Buyers have, at minimum, a full 6 days to pay before that transaction can be officially closed out.  48 hours after the win/buy, you start the unpaid dispute.  eBay then givess them 96 hours to pay.  If they fail to pay, you get to close it out, the transaction is over, you get the selling fees credited, and the buyer gets a non-payment strike.

If you fail to go through the proper procedures, you may end up with 2 buyers for 1 item and someone isn't going to be happy about it.  You will get a cancellation defect and probably negative feedback.

Re: How to Invoice a Buyer after Negotiating a Second Chance Offer?

It's not surprising under the constraints described that "2nd chance offers" are often unsuccessful.  One problem is that the 2nd chance offer is at the high bid limit of the underbidder - if the non-paying high bidder had not imposed his/her bid on the auction, the underbidder would have instead "won" at the minimum bid increment above the next lower bidder's  limit. The simple solution would be to allow the seller to define the offer, as the OP's question suggests.

Re: How to Invoice a Buyer after Negotiating a Second Chance Offer?

That is not how the Second Chance Offer works.  With a SCO the bidder has the opportunity to purchase the item for the amount of their highest proxy bid amount.  There is no negotiation permitted.  If memory serves a SCO is only valid for 24 hrs before it expires.

If you are negotiating with an under bidder it is not a Second Chance Offer.  I would advise caution as the bots may decide you're trying to do an off-eBay transaction.

24 hours is the default duration for SCOs but the seller can also choose 3, 5, or 7 days.

Ebay won't let me relist it.

You can't relist a SCO listing. You have to go back to the original auction.

Use the Sell Similar feature, then change it from auction to fixed price.
