Can anyone tell me how to calculate the total amount of state taxes eBay collected in a given tax year? (Since they count toward my PayPal income, I need to deduct the amount from my taxes.) I tried the "old" route of using Seller Tools and then "Reporting" but that didn't work for me. Does anyone know how this can easily be done?
I do my own taxes now and I'm very much still learning how to navigate all this stuff.
Thank you kindly for your help!

They do not count toward your PayPal income unless they were included in your PayPal income.
So if you are looking for the taxes that were included in your PayPal income, you should be looking for that information on PayPal, not on eBay.
If you export your PayPal transaction history for the year, you will find a seperate line item for the sales tax from each transaction, where PayPal remitted it back to eBay.
They are easy to find - the Type is listed as "Tax collected by partner". Negative amounts are payments to eBay; positive amounts are sales taxes amounts refunded to your buyer when you refunded.

Sorry, but you didn't pay the taxes, the buyer did. You can't deduct taxes that another person paid.

Have you not been keeping records of sales?

Yes, but it is included in the total on PayPal and *then* deducted by eBay.

Of course I keep records. But I'm not trained in business. I keep logs of inventory on paper and the rest is on the computer. I can teach myself how to use Excel, but at this point, I don't utilize it.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate the direct response and that you left your sarcasm at the door. I'm very much a right-brained woman; math isn't a strong suit for me.
I was confused in the past about whether or not I had to manually go in to deduct the taxes from my 1099 or if they don't get rolled in in the first place. Furthermore, PayPal doesn't make it easy to figure out much of anything when it comes to adding their fees for the year to deduct from taxes.
Again, I appreciate your help.

Example from a sell I just made last night.
I was selling an item for $34.75, Buyer paid a total of $40.14
$40.14 minus Taxes buyer paid, $2.17 = $37.97 minus shipping buyer also paid, $3.22 = $34.75

Hope that helps to explain how it works. Happy Tax season, Blaaaah

Thank you! Last year it seemed to work a bit differently in PayPal. This year, everything is in reports and I had no issues.
