How much more does eBay need ?

Now a driver license!  They practically have your life. 

Think of it ! Your name, DOB, address, social security, bank account, credit cards, and now your driver license !

If they get hacked, ( and they all do ) I will end up with stolen identity for sure.

And for what, some selling website!  Thay are not even the government or some social service.

With views and sales half of what they were 2 years ago, and fees constantly up, I think this might be the final straw !

Wait, what?  They have "your name, DOB, address, social security, bank account, credit cards," and you're worried that your identity will get stolen because now they want your driver's license?  Compared to what they already have, your DL isn't the final straw, it's just another needle in the haystack.

I would hate to, I used to love eBay. 

But now I wonder if the other platforms would do the same thing.

Right, so what's the big deal with adding your DL to the mountain of info they already have?  I'm a lot more concerned about giving my DL to a state trooper than I am about giving it to eBay.

You have beautiful and pricey items. I can understand ebay wanting to make sure that you are you and you live in the location stated in your address.  Ebay just wants to make the site safe. Give it to them.  Scammers probably already have all the information they need from your electricity bill or the last big purchase that you made (car, an appliance.)  Relax, send them the ID and continue selling nice items.
