You seem to be living under the delusion that eBay cares about what sellers want.

I'll keep this brief.

I sell using a different ID than this one.  So far I have had no problems with Managed Payments.

I woke up this Monday morning to an INR case, and a message from eBay saying that "your funds are on hold."   Obviously, the INR case is not related in any sense to Managed Payments and is, in my opinion, completely baseless, but one of my first thoughts was -- "Oh, No!  It's what everybody has been freaking out about!!  eBay is going to refund the buyer by taking that money out of my checking account!!"

But -- no -- the message from eBay said the transaction amount would be withheld from any future payments.   That seems reasonable.   I just need to fight the INR and hope to keep selling on eBay.

Re: How many sellers are loving this new Managed Payments? I love how eBay holds on to your money an

I don't "love" it and I certainly don't "hate it".

MP is just a payment service, it's not really much different than PayPal in a general sense. I've been in the plan since last September, it has operated smoothly, there hasn't been a single week when I did not get my money when I expected it (Weekly payouts, funds in my bank account the same day they are sent).

As far as "eBay holding my money", waiting a few days does not impact me in any way, in the past it would have just sat in my PayPal account until I did my once or twice a month transfer. I've been in business for a long time (almost 50 years) EVERY business I've been involved in needed a "float" to operate, I can't imagine being so close to the edge that the delays would mean anything, what do these sellers do if they don't get the sales they think they will have in the next day or two? Starve? Beg, borrow or steal to keep the doors open? Have these people never been employed? Employers generally pay wages every two weeks so most people are always waiting for their money and usually there is always at least one week held back.

In the early days of MP the information reporting was poor, it was difficult to audit the fees charged, difficult to get the proper reports etc but a lot has changed especially in the last few months. The details are now available and the reports provide all the information most would need.

As far as fees, hard to say exactly how it will shake out over a full year, my expectation is they will come in a little higher but just a pittance compared to annual shipping cost increases or any "fee restructuring" by eBay. It's true that much of the small savings on the payment processing side with MP have been wiped out by adjustments to the portion of fees that relate specifically to the previous Final Value Fees but those adjustments might have been worse if PayPal was still taking their cut.

As far as the opposition to MP, I heard it all before in 2008(?) when all sellers were forced into using PayPal and old style payments by Cash, Money Orders and Checks were banned.

Although selling on eBay is a lot more complicated than it was 20 years ago, it's still easy money if you know what you are doing.

Re: How many sellers are loving this new Managed Payments? I love how eBay holds on to your money an

Well it's holding on to my sale. The buyer paid $310 for my purchase on Sunday and it is now the close of business on Monday and it said that the funds would be made available to me by the end of today and guess what the money's still not in my account... So guess what, the buyer is not getting his item and told the payment is completed and no longer pending in my account because I do not trust anything with managed payments.

Does anyone know how many business days, it takes eBay to officially release the funds into your bank account, non-pending???

Well how about this, not every person selling on here has a business.... Some like me, might be just looking to get rid of a few things and might actually depend on that money especially when it's a $300 sale. I'm not a millionaire so how am I going to have that kind of money repeatedly just hanging around in my account to front on a regular basis. Please don't put everybody into the same box.

Well I had a sale and it's been a whole business day and the money isn't in my account yet.... And I have no idea when it will be in my account, thanks to eBay, and until then, the buyer isn't getting his item because I'm not getting screwed.

Sales from Friday to Sunday are processed on Monday and are ready for a Tuesday Payout, depending on your bank the funds will be there in 0 - 4 days. I have an account with one of the big online banks, my Tuesday payout is in my account the same day ALWAYS.

Other than weekends sales are usually processed in 12 - 36 hours so a sale on a Tuesday morning will likely be available for Payout on Wednesday, a sale on Tuesday evening available for Payout on Thursday. I've noticed that some payments, especially International ones take slightly longer to process.

I really like MP, it has streamlined things and I've never missed a payment (they take my CU one day to process, so Wed. morning I'm paid). No more having to log into Paypal all day to double-check. And I'm thinking taxes will be way easier next year. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's terrible.

And payment everywhere else I've sold is similar, except for local (cash).

Always been very happy selling on ebay. They got all the kinks worked out as to be fair to buyers and sellers and it was running like a finely tuned machine . Very disappointed in ebay to adopt this MP . Securing and having access to the funds at time of sale was a rewarding and crucial part of the platform. For the honest long term sellers MP significantly lowers morale.

I hardly call that an option if your intention is to continue selling on eBay

Other than I'd rather the payouts be on Wednesday or Thursday (for weekly), I have no issues with waiting. If I did, would change to daily to get the money a little quicker. Beats having to wait until after the item is delivered and either waiting a few days for it to automatically go to you or the buyer says they're happy with it. Plus I like not having to go to PayPal to enter the fees in the accounting software.

Regardless, it is what it is. Would rather work with it than continuously whine about it. Probably also helps that I'm used to waiting a few days with processors in the past and just how other sites operate.

Re: How many sellers are loving this new Managed Payments? I love how eBay holds on to your money an

I hate it! Their policy of restricting our accounts till the buyers have their merchandise, and are satisfied making it harder for us to pay shipping and insurance out of our own pockets even when buyers pay for shipping! Shunning Paypal instant pay was bad enough delaying our payment up to three business days thru banks! Now it could take up to two weeks to see any of it is a deal-breaker for me!

Now they hold payment till it's already shipped and received by the buyer leaving shipping and insurance costs totally on us! Could take weeks for payment!

eBay isn't holding your funds - they received them from the true card processor, then (if you are on daily deposit) they initiate a transfer to your bank.    If you are on weekly deposit, they are held until your transfer day and the transfer is initiated then.

You do know you can pay for shipping via your pending funds, right?  It's an option in the print label process - I recently switched all my accounts to that and have had no issues.
