So, image search in the ebay app has been around something like 8 years now.
Why doesn't the website have this? They obviously already have a fully functioning backend for this service, I can't image it would take more than a few days for a competent developer to port it to the website as well.
Big sellers and pro operations operate on PCs, not on cell phones. You might operate on a cell phone, that is great for you. I actually wish all of you did, since it is a real disadvantage.
It just drives me nuts that the cell phone app (which is literally missing 80 percent of the website's functions) has unique features that the website doesn't have by itself.

Honestly, I thought that it would have been added sometime ago, but alas, nothing yet. You could use Google image search.
I'm one of those who used to use a PC, but I now use my phone or tablet with templates. Unfortunately, the description templates feature has been replaced on the app with "AI Description".
However, I still prefer Google lens for the simple reason it is more comprehensive than eBay image search.

You lost me at, "a competent developer."

My recommendation is to present this matter directly to eBay for review and consideration.

@onefootflipper1 I'll add another question. Since Image Search is available on the App, why isn't Image Search/UPC Search available on the App's Product Research feature? (If I recall correctly, we were told this utility was in the works, but so far........crickets.)

The real answer to all of this is that there are likely totally separate development teams on everything that don't talk to each other.

Suggest you post this on the tools board........if the tech people involved read any of these boards, it would be that one to find out what people think of the tools.

It's a poor cry of what it was when tools ebay people actually answered questions/problems there....but might possibly be useful..........

@onefootflipper1
It'd work like search works now.
You take a picture of a car wheel and use it to search.....Your results would show lug nuts and different wheels that somebody "promoted" instead of the design you searched for.
You know, because other stuff is what you "really" want 🤣🤣🤣

"So, image search in the ebay app has been around something like 8 years now. Why doesn't the website have this?"
Because the camera on a computer is stationary. It would be awkward to get a good pic trying to hold either the computer's camera lens on front of an item or an item in front of the camera.

I don't think that's the reason, because we all use Google's desktop image search -- drag and drop or use a screenshot.

You might have a stationary camera on your computer. That isn't true for everyone. That certainly isn't how most photos are going to end up on the computer.
Plenty of us take photos with a separate camera and then transfer then to the computer. Plenty of us have setups where we have various PC cameras mounted in our photostations taking them directly onto the PC without involving a phone or a handheld camera. Plenty more of us sell lots of small items and have a mounted document camera hooked up. Some of us have ALL OF THESE THINGS.
Lets say I take a photo on a phone, then I search on the phone app. It is still extremely clunky to then find the proper example of the item to sell similar from, easily takes 5 or 6 times as long, wasted time, making me no money.

I think a lot of us would like to see image search expanded.
My suggestion to people that want this option on web, or on Product Research, is to use the "submit feedback" options. It's fast and easy and eBay does review these reports.
Options through the app:
1. Shake your device while the app is open and that will trigger the option for you to submit feedback on product features.
2. Anywhere you see the three dots or the ? you can tap on that to submit feedback.
On the web:
Click the ? icon on the bottom right corner of almost any eBay page and that will trigger the option to submit feedback to eBay. Screenshots here.

I did it just now, and I gave the reason that I would like to be able to do whatever I need to do within eBay and not have to go outside to Google.
