How long can INR case remain open until ebay automatically closes it?

Basically the title. Is there a specific amount of time an INR case can remain open until ebay automatically closes it for being open too long (it would close in the sellers favor in this case). Assume neither side opens a case.

If no case was opened to remain open, there is no case to close.

But an INR refund request automatically closes sometime after 21 business days, from when it was started.

It depends on if there is tracking and if there is movement on that tracking.  As long as there is movement on the tracking, it will remain open a long time (I don't think indefinitely, but a long time).  If it stops getting updates, they'll refund the buyer typically.

Do you have tracking that shows it was delivered or still moving through the system?

When was the estimated delivery date?

What does tracking show?

I had an INR opened, after the buyer opened the INR they miraculously found the item, but they never closed the INR case, it closed on its own due to inactivity. It took about 30 days to close.

I think that last sentence was meant to read "assume neither side escalates the case".

Buyers have 21 business days (practically a month) after opening an INR request to escalate the case.   The case will close automatically after this period ends ... no action needed by the seller.
