I feel like I've see this question posted several times here, but I can't find any real explanation.
Buyer purchased an item yesterday evening, messaged me 3 times in the middle of the night, then opened an INR for that same item at 9 a.m. this morning. The most irritating thing about this is that the due date for the INR is the 25th, but the estimated delivery date isn't even until the 26th.
I've got the situation with the buyer handled, I just don't understand - does anyone know how it's possible for a buyer to open an INR this quickly?

Even though it's handled now, can you post a screenshot @popblox as it sounds like a payment dispute with that 5-day deadline?
Sure, details below. But it's not a PD, it's an INR - opened on a Saturday, less than 24 hours after purchase.

...couldn't cancel the sale even that was what I wanted the most...so printed out shipping label and submit tracking number to the INR case...also input a message in the comment box about the issue...
That's exactly what I did too 👍

Others have posted the same thing has occured. Have not experienced it personally, but also remember threads on this.
This should not occur.

Anyway to assist in researching why something like this can ever happen? It is confusing and allows a buyer to open a claim prematurely. TIA!

LOL! Since I was the buyer, no, I did not contact the shipper.
The scenario I posted about happened over a year ago, so, again, no, those announcements are not helpful to me.
The point of my comment was to share my experience regarding the filing of an INR, not to solicit advice about locating a package I purchased ages ago. Thanks anyway.

I just realized something. After searching the forums, the only consistent factor I've found in all the cases is that the item(s) hadn't been shipped yet (no label printed), including mine, as well as @bbravo65.
Could either of you be so kind as to provide insight on how it's possible for a buyer to open an INR less than 24 hours after purchase (and 5 days before their estimated delivery date)? Is there some kind of loophole that allows this to happen if the seller hasn't yet shipped the item?

Hi @popblox
The buyer probably would have been able to file a ‘return request’ as well … based on the number of posts I’ve seen where buyer did so when the seller didn’t respond to an immediate request to cancel.
Those probably shouldn’t be allowed to be filled within a few hours of purchasing the item either. Makes no sense. 🤔

Oh dear! These truths we hold dear, dear.
Yes, no INRRR before the LEDD, but yes, an INAD or RRR is immediately allowed, even before it's shipped.

...unless I'm on "Time Away", the fastest I posted my tracking number for buyers was almost immediately when eBay noticed me a sale was made and, the longest waiting time was few hours, but never longer than 24 hours...
...and tracking got scanned picking up by USPS was always within couple hours after shipping label was purchased...
...if eBay is so strict in MBG for buyers then eBay should follow their policy in time manner for an item to be shipped and delivered for sellers instead of allowing buyers to file cases, INR or INAD...it's conflict in business practice...

Most likly a ebay customer service rep open it for them, after being contacted by the user.

Thanks for that - coffee splatter all over my screen 😂

Just spitballing but.... perhaps the claim was actually opened on Paypal, where the buyer can make a claim after Payment not delivery, and it just looks as if it is an eBay dispute.

If so, do you know if it would look any different?
Or, wouldn't that fall under a payment dispute, as opposed to an INR?
